Stanzi hater and a JVB lover...
I'm not a Stanzi hater...but I like to think I'm objectively viewing his senior year, rather than letting the big game plays from 2008 and 2009 cloud my judgement. He never led a comeback in 2010 and he had 5 chances...hell, we wouldn't have gotten the Insight Bowl win if Hyde hadn't have come to the rescue. The other factor for Stanzi that others continually overlook is that he had a lead in the 4th quarter of all those games and all the offense needed to do was get first downs to seal the win and rest the defense...we couldn't do it. Because he created so many memories from 2008 (Penn State) and 2009, people tend to give him the benefit of the doubt on 2010. Stanzi will always hold great memories to me, the drive to win at Penn State, MSU, etc. But his performance in 2010, despite the numbers, was disappointing. He also played on arguably the best defensive club I've seen in 2009...who saved his butt during his nation leading interception run.
JVB has numerous areas to improve...pocket presence, handling pressure, and getting the ball off more quickly, but for people to say what they are saying is ridiculous. He has things to work on, but he showed last year, he can deliver the ball...ask Marvin McNutt.
The bottom line is that winning the game tends to soften the view of how the QB played. If JVB has either the 2009 defense or 2010 defense last year, I believe peoples views would be much different because we no doubt would have won more games.
