they will move ahead of South Carolina, maybe ahead of Arkansas. They should be ranked ahead of Texas too but wont be.

The Big 12 is THE overrated conference in the country. OU didn't look like anything special (again) playing an average Cincy team. Nebraska was far from impressive (though they are still the best team in the Big 12). And Texas got flat out punked at home. I'm going to put the Texas-Kansas State game in Manhatten on Upset Alert right now. Daniel Thomas will light that defense up.

I think Iowa will be ranked ahead of Texas because voters have been wanting a reason not to vote Texas so high and a bad home loss to a mediocre team should be that reason. I don't think Arkansas will drop very far. So I think 17th is about right.

I'm not sure about Texas. If they wanted a reason to not rank Texas so highly, all they had to do was look at the fact that Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley were gone. That was their offense last year. Not to mention that Sergio Kindle and Earl Thomas also left on the defensive side of the ball. Everybody knew going in that Texas was overrated. This is exactly why preseason polls are stupid.

Iowa moves up 3 spots to 15. The voters had Iowa as the highest rated 1 loss team in the polls with there loss coming against an Arizona team that could move up to 12th. I think the voters keep Iowa that way. Texas losing to UCLA at home, thats junk. The big 12 is down this year...big time! South Carolina has a good team, just caught a bad break.

Would have been nice to see Ark and Cincy win today...They should have

Go Hawks!

Pretty sickening thought that the Fuskers have a pretty decent shot at making the NC. I loathe Big Red, and would love nothing more than for the Clowns to pick them off in November.

You might be right, but Texas has lost about 60 votes in the AP poll from the opening poll, so I think people have been wanting to drop them lower, but since they started them so high they tend to keep them where they were. Also, if Iowa falls 9 spots by losing on the road to a ranked team, shouldn't a team that loses at home to a 2 loss team fall a lot more? I know that is giving these voters too much credit though.

You do realize that though unlikely. If Nebraska runs the table and gets in the N/C against Ohio. Even if Nebraska lost that would still be a huge boost to the Big 10 in the up comming season.

Iowa is NOT the best one loss team in the clountry. That is now Arkansas, the only team that should be ahead of us.

I may be in the minority here but rankings at this point in the season still mean little to me. There are still way too many at the top who will be falling. All you can do is keep winning and ranking will take
care itself. A case in point is Nebraska. They will not run the table. In fact, they should be on upset alert in Mannhattan every bit as much as Texas. It's a little like watching the stock market every day when you won't need to retire for another 20 years. It's where you finish that counts. If we beat all or most of the tough teams on our schedule we'll be near the top and belong there. Just keep winning.

I like the Sagarin ranking because it gives you two unbiased rankings: one based only on point differential, and the other based on strength of schedule.

After watching many of the games where teams were ranked above Iowa, I'm convinced that we are realistically a top 12 team. I think we were underrated to start the year and a nine spot drop is crazy considering it was a top 25 team.

Kinda makes you wonder what will happen with Zona after they eked that one out last night.

I'm thoroughly convinced that at some point this year, Nick Foles is going to get blindsided and not get up. The guy does not move, so much so that I'm surprised there is any grass alive between the hash marks.

In theory, teams in the Iowa/Zona range should all move up two spots, and I don't think it's crazy to see Iowa moving up three with Auburn moving up as well. Somebody has to fill those voids, may as well be the Hawks.

Iowa plays four ranked teams very soon. When the smoke clears from this next month or so, then I'll be all about talking about fairness in rankings. It was a huge bummer that Iowa lost to Az, but with a total of five ranked opponents on the upcoming schedule, Iowa could move up pretty quickly if they win, and win, and win.

Yep. Next five games are critical.
