Raheem Morris?

either way, he is one of maybe 300 NFL coaches..... out of maybe 300,000 people who currently coach this sport. thats 1 in 1,000 BTW. Pretty Elite/prestigious to me....

If I knew your meaning of prestigious in this case was that he would get an NFL level gig regardless of the position....

Wait, it isn't what you meant. That's OK. I know you are trying to save face. I'll let it slide.

EDIT: There are far more than 10 coaches per team, BTW.

A Raheem Morris conversation has gone on this far? This guy has no resume that is remotely impressive anywhere. He may be a solid fundamentals coach, but his one stint as a DC at the college level was mediocre at best and other than that...he magically got promoted from ball boy to HC and then they realized what they had done.

As I said, all his interviews scream position coach, not HC or coordinator. He is very likable and energetic, but just doesn't come off as cerebral at all.

The last 3 Steeler HC:

Chuck Noll: Hired at 39, spent a couple years as d-coordinator for Shula with Baltimore.

Bill Cowher: Hired at 34, only spent a year as a d-coordinator for Shottenheimer with KC before the Steelers hired him.

Mike Tomlin: Hired at 36, only spent a year as the Viking d-coordinator.

Noll was really, really smart, but Cowher/Tomlin are "likeable and energetic" guys.

Bilichek crash and burned with Cleveland and mumbles through interviews and always looks constipated is considered one of the best coaches ever.

Judging potential HC by a handful of TV interviews is just dumb.

You didn't just seriously try to contrast Morris with Noll, Cowher and Tomlin did you? All three of these guys had gained a tremendous amount of respect within the coaching ranks on their way up. They had a proven track record and more importantly they had commanded a level of respect within the coaching fraternity outside of their organizations.

That doesn't describe Raheem Morris.

Hey CABraden, what you've got to realize is: there are HSN posters who are so anxious - and testy with other suggestions - to extend Norm Parker's legacy, they'll agree to the defensive coordinator being the defensive coach on Norm's staff with the most seniority... wait for it... even if that coordinator was Phil Parker, the secondary coach who's pass defense has been at the bottom of the B1G stats for the past two years.

I guess that's as bad as Morris' stats.

You and Caarhawk have no idea about this man's intellect or lack thereof. More importantly, you have no clue what Morris's reputation is among his peers or the management of NFL teams. The quick google search you did wouldn't give that to you.

Using your logic the Steelers wouldn't have hired Noll, Cowher or Tomlin, wouldn't gave Bilichek a second chance. Looked at KF's record at Maine and would have decided that it would be impossible for him to succeed at a D-1 school.

Actually, I get paid to analyze communication and leadership. I know when I hear people continually repeat the same terms due to a lack of a rich vocabulary. He also uses incorrect English. But it isn't just YouTubes. As I said earlier, I have seen different interviews that show the same indications. Now, it might just be that he needs to work on his speaking. But, that is kind of an important thing in coaching.

I think having Raheem Morris as our D coordinator would do WONDERS for our recruiting. I have no idea if it's realistic whatsoever, but I'm simply responding to the thread title.

Where has Morris' defensive mind ever been on display? He wasn't a coordinator. And in his short stint in a position of power, his defense was not very good at all. He's not shown much to make me want anything to do with him.

KF shouldn't even bother......Phil Parker is just going to fail.
Those offenses under McCarthy with the 49ers were terrible what was Ted Thompson thinking about hiring that guy.

If we're going to have a guy with little experience as a coordinator, I'd rather it be a guy like Parker, so that we stick to the same system. But little/no experience+new system=/=reliable recipe for success.

Sounds like you are describing Rex Ryan to me.......Norv Turner is a brilliant X and O guy, but he couldn't motivate/lead girl scouts to sell girl scout cookies.

That's not my point.....everyone is being judgmental like he can't be a good d-coordinator at some point he is only 35.

People are gauging his intelligence by youtube videos, saying he will never be a good coordinator based on a 2 second google search. He could very well suck as a coordinator, but give me more than the crap people are tossing out in this thread.

You have to remember how young TB is, they have a good season next year with little to no major roster shakeups, it will make you scratch your head at least. Like I pointed out earlier- to who's credit goes SF49ers or Michigan? The current head coach, or his predecessor who mainly put together the roster?

for both sf49ers and michigan i give the credit to the current staff. most coaches can recognize talent but you have to put that talent in the right position to succeed. look at alex smith and his development this year and the development of the michigan defense. both have talent but the previous coaches did nothing with it. now they are respectable.

The credit definitely goes to Harbaugh and Hoke, no question.
