That doesn't change anything that I posted.Haven't you seen that story on the social media about Barry Alvarez and Bert Bielema being friends again? They have made up their difference and are back to being besties like they were back when Biels was the head Badger.
On a side note, not many programs could go thru that number of coaching changes in that short of time as flawlessly as Wisky. They transition quit well it seems. They don't drop off a lot.
That's interesting because there are a ton of fans that think we do. That we don't work hard enough to win battles for blue chip players. Quite honestly, they are naive. We aren't going to win many battles for blue chip players but we try hard for the ones we might win. Wisconsin and Iowa are very similar in that we don't have that many in-state players that have P5 talent out of HS. We have to evaluate and develop. What the ending difference is, I don't know. I know that Wisconsin looks for smart kids with the desire and dedication to want to improve and play tough nosed football. I suspect Iowa does too. Styles are similar. Maybe Wisconsin's pool of in-state talent is just a little larger. Or maybe we just find more kids who fit what we are looking for.One thing I don't get is when people say Wisconsin has been better than us lately because they don't settle for mediocrity. It's not like they are firing coaches for under performing. We don't know if they settle for mediocrity because they haven't had to make tough decisions on firing coaches.

That goes for shooty hoops as well as football. On a side note, not many programs could go thru that number of coaching changes in that short of time as flawlessly as Wisky. They transition quit well it seems. They don't drop off a lot.
I'm also an Iowa fan, having lived in the state for 17 years. The OP asked a decent question and I without any acrimony decently answered it. Why the issue? You could have just private messaged the one Wisconsin fan on here... Or better yet, post the question like on a Wisconsin board.
The issue is KF has been here 18 years. There is a certain level of fatigue that is involved with that long of tenure. Barry Alvarez had up years and down years. Barry won 10 games in year 4, but then fell right back to 7, 4, 8, and 8 win seasons before going on a three year run of 11, 10 and 9 wins. He then dipped back to 5, 8 and 7 wins before winning 9 and 10 and then becoming AD.
When you coach as long as they did/have there are ups and downs over 16 or 18 years. Some don't feel that a coach who wins 7 or 8 games isn't doing a good enough job, the program is settling for mediocrity and have a shit fit all around. Yet Barry only exceeded 8 wins 6 times in 16 years. 10 times he won 8 games or less.
