Purdue Roll Call

Who’s all going and what’s your plan?

I‘ll be in Finkbine eating a sandwich and throwing a football with my son. I’ll be at the Rec Center at 12:30 for when the doors open.

Brunch at Bea’s Cafe in CR next door to the Hampton Inn, my go to hotel for Iowa home games. Will catch some games with 11:00 AM kicks in my room. Down 380 about noon to Lot 65. My tailgate is coffee and a sweet roll. Head to Kinnick and into the stadium about 45 minutes before kickoff. Season ticks in the south end zone where a bunch of us have had the same seats for years. Post game is, after KF post game with Dolph, a trip to George’s for adult beverages and TV game watch, then a quick walk to Pagliai’s for the best pizza ever. Back to the Hampton to watch night games and Big Ten post game show. Sunday I head for Milwaukee and the Marcus Center with my daughter and two grand daughters to see “Hamilton” live on the stage. Hell of a weekend and yet another Hawkeye victory (Right?). Go Hawks!

Love George's...and Pagliai's.

I was in Iowa City Thursday night and all Friday. My son has been investigating actuarial science and at his request wanted to visit. Iowa has not been on his radar until he found actuary and started researching. I'm trying not to sway him. Also, out of state tuition is brutal. But, we'll see.

I wish we woulda coulda stayed. We hit up the hall of fame on the way out of town. The field hockey game was right next door and packed! For field hockey, anyway. Parking was a mess over there. #1 vs #2. Good gals won. Muck Fichigan.

Wow. The new buildings on campus are a huge improvement. Makes everything less scattered. The dorm food is 100x better than 30+ years ago. Herky is way taller than you think, even considering the lifts in his shoes. Pagliai's is way better than I remember. I always thought it was barely mediocre. I did have it about 24 years ago when I lived in Indianola. But as of Thursday night I would rate it well above average, but nothing to travel for.

Great to see a line down the block of people waiting to get into a show at Gabe's.

I'm ready to go back to college myself. I'm desperately hoping he picks Iowa. But don't tell him that. Or do.

Since I gave up my season tickets after the 2018 season I have mainly been watching the game at home with my wife. I went to 2 or 3 games with family and friends in 2019 and planned to go to a couple this year but decided home was better. I will go to future games starting next, I hope, with my son and two grandsons when he has a ticket for me.

I use iHeart radio game broadcast with YouTubeTV viewing where I can synch Dolph and Eddie about 2 seconds ahead of the game and get a jump on the action. Plus always great to listen to Eddie who gets it right almost all the time and Dolph, well Dolph is just Dolph. haha
