PSU loses first commit since sanctions

...I don't think we were in on any of these kids.

Honestly, if we can get Edwards and Augusta.. I'd be pretty pumped with our class.

With a RB and a good DL, I think we would be pretty good. Iowa has instant starting positions available right now at those spots.

Iowa has to compete with Nebraska, Michigan and Michigan State every year while struggling with Northwestern and Minnesotta too. Wisconsin and OSU is it in other division but now Indiana, Illinois and Purdue have a chance even now that PSU is eliminated.

And instant playing time doesn't matter when you aren't a top tier program. Akeel Lynch and Malik Golden choose PSU over Iowa when PT was available. Recruits more interested in competing for championships than playing time and Iowa can't offer championships.

If you're a transferring junior or senior playing time is going to be very important. There are a lot of players on PSU that wont start ever at Wisconsin, Michigan, or OSU.

Could Penn State truly offer championships?

Your ramblings are often full of holes that make you look foolish.

Before this mess, yes. They had better chance in their division than Iowa does in theirs. That is my point. PSU has/had a top 10 class this season and were better than Iowa last season. Iowa is on a downslide and before this disaster PSU was more competitive than Iowa.

They are interested in both and I would argue Iowa has had just as good or better of a shot at any championship over PSU in any of the past 10 years. Also, I am more focusing on the fact that this is a very compressed situation right now. These kids have days to a couple weeks to decide what they want to do. A legit RB can come in and start right now at Iowa. With a break or two, there is no reason Iowa could not go to a significant bowl game this year.

According to the PSU rivals board admin, the PSU players on roster have 10 days to decide whether to stay or go. Had not seen that information anywhere else. The fear is that if all the RS sophs and below transferred, the team would be left with about 40 players. That is not likely to happen, but there you go.

There's a part of me that says Ferentz will take a hands off approach to these PSU players due to his long standing feelings toward the program. If a PSU player takes the first step to contact Iowa then maybe a different story.

Count MSU as one that has already joined the PSU feeding frenzy with an offer to Zach Bradshaw. There's some ties to the MSU program with the Bradshaw family but don't believe MSU offered until just recently.

My thoughts exactly.

However, in some ways (the good ones), Iowa can most closely resemble what Penn State had to offer before all of this crap hit the fan. If they can figure out how to sell that notion without sounding creepy, they could pick up some decent players.

I wish KF was far more aggressive in this regard; with sharks like Urban, Bert, Pelini, Hoke, it's a doggy dog world in the B1G, but I suspect you're correct.

I think it is funny that the one commit Greg Webb changed from PSU to UNC. UNC is already being punished and will get additional punishment after the revelations about basically fake classes that football players were getting grades for.

For all intensive purposes, it is a doggy dog world.

Those other coaches are chomping at the bit and we aren't even wetting our appetite. Knowing KF, he will continue to tow the line, however, instead of trying some of the slight of hand moves that Meyer and Brent will use. The will get their just desserts, anyway, all in do time.

I don't want to make Kirk the escape goat just because he's not a cardsharp like Dant. But maybe, just maybe, in the end we will be like "Low and behold", we got one. I will be waiting with baited breath for that day, baby. Oh yes, I will. That would be a real boom to our program.
