WOW! Maybe they should spend a few weeks reading the 2000 page health proposal and asking their voters what they would like to see changed instead of medeling in things that do not matter for the overall heath or vitality of our contry. (just like they should not have stuck their nose into baseball affairs.) Millions of dollars and countless hours spent and nothing at all changed. (get a clue congress)

They need to be creating jobs or our economy will never recover; health care is one of the last things we need to be worrying about. We still have some "cleaning up" to do after last years near-apocalypse.
The BCS has antitrust written ALL over it. They added the 5th game, but still it's illegal as can be.
A playoff is the only thing that will fix the BCS. Both for the teams and the fans, and yes the law.
Here is what you do:
* Play the traditional bowl games. This will let the Boise State's play some good competition.
* Have the top 8 BCS ranked teams play a 4 game playoff.
* The top 4 teams have home games against the bottom 4 (Alabama in Iowa City, in January, would rock!)
* The remaining 4 teams play a "Final 4", just like with March Madness, at a designated stadium(s).
This BCS crap WILL get real nasty if a 12-0 Iowa or Cincinnati get shutout of the title game...

It blows my mind how readily people forget their place. The global position of the United States is truly in question for the first time since World War II, and these people want to concern themselves with sports.

If The NCAA has a monopoly then so does the NFL, NBA, and NHL. There are no other leagues that compete directly with them. The only thing that antitrust would do is split these companies up into seperate entities which as history would show us (phone and oil) would eventually rejoin again. The NCAA is not price gauging, or forcing anyone to buy something because there is no other alternative. Go watch NAIA college games or FCS division games.
Reason would tell us to not worry about an entertainment market driven by the consumer. If it is unreasonable the consumer will force it to change. If the FBS is boycotted and no one supports it because of the bowl system then they will be forced to change. (Congress should not have any involvement)

Seriously, the BCS is such a @#$&ing racket! You know I wouldn't half-mind if it wasn't for Notre Dame getting such favoritism! What do they have to win, just 9 games and they are in?!? Horse Crap. I'd take a Boise State way before them!
