Predict Kirk Ferentz Retirement Date

I am guessing Kirk retires sooner rather than later, following the 2019 season.

Current age in 2017 is 61. He will be 65 on August 1, 2020.

Ferentz currently has 18 seasons as head coach at Iowa. If he coaches 3 more seasons, he would have 21 total. 1 more season total than Fry who coached for 20 seasons at Iowa.

Ferentz currently has 132 wins as Iowa coach. If he averages 6 wins a season for the next 3 years, he would have 148 total wins as the Iowa coach, which is more than the 143 total wins Fry had as the Iowa coach.

If current paterns continue, in 2020, Iowa's cross division opponents will the same as the ones as in 2017. PSU, OSU, and MSU. No need to go through that again.

Plus I can't picture Kirk wanting to be a figure head, like Joe Paterno, while his assistants do all the real coaching. When he is done, he will officially be done.

By end of 2019, Brian will have 3 years total as the OC, enough time for him to move up to head coach.

One thing maybe could keep Kirk around longer is moving up the BigTen list of total coaching wins, but I am not sure how important that is to KF.

Kirk did an interview a few years back where the host asked him if he could picture himself coaching into his 80's like Paterno and KF laughed at that one, but when the host brought up 70's, KF essentially said that as long as his health was good, he could picture himself coaching in his 70's.

KF is/was a big Joe Paterno and Chuck Knoll fan and has tried to model the consistency from a coaching standpoint that those two had....for better or for worse. So I could definitely see him coaching for another 10-12 years. But I could also see him coaching for another 5 and then maybe stepping down and, assuming the program is highly successful and BF's offense if productive, once BF gets the job having KF be a consultant to the program from an OL coach perspective. The man has his faults, but he's probably the preeminent OL coach in the entire country.

He has an inner struggle to deal with.

The ambitious side of his personality wants to stay HC as long as he is healthy. And he'll be the one to decide if he is healthy.

The other side of him wants to hand off the program to Brian before he starts to talk like Lou Schloltz.

I think 8 years from now he'll bump himself up to the AD position and install Brian as head coach. He'll stay on for another 6 years and then Brian will "retire" from coaching and take over as the new AD. When Brian succeeds him as AD he will either hire James or Steve as the new head coach. When one of them retires as head coach and subsequently becomes the new AD they will hire one of their sons as head coach. This pattern will repeat itself until sometime in the 241/2th century.

Ranking arrests by win is totally absurd, but I guess the source of the post.

The amount of arrests is a problem especially in a small town. Are IC finest just doing their job? This is the place where an arrest wasn't made over a helmet theft. The amount of arrests is very loud in a small town.

What was your guess again?

You are close, but no cigar, Josh. Kirk will retire at age 70 from the head coaching position and become the AD; Brian will apply for the head job, but I will get the position, and ICKE will be my co head coach. I will only be 81, so I can coach into my 90's. I think ICKE is younger than I am and that would leave him an opening when I die of a heart attack on the sidelines. Much better story than yours, buddy!

I will agree with all your posts if you agree Trump is a winner.

I know where the stats are from. The source of the post is YOU. Not a guess.. Wins per arrest is absurd. Put another way...consider the source of the post. It figures.
