But Lunardi's Bracketology that came out today has Maryland a 3 seed. Seems a bit low, but he spends more time doing his figures than I do. Iowa still a 1.
 
Right now Jerry Palm(cbs) has us at a 1 seed but playing Duke or what would be a healthy Wichita State team in the round of 32. Uh, I'd rather be a 2 seed in that scenario.

I don't pay any attention to the matchups in bracketology. Getting the seeds right is an inexact science right as it is. Getting the matchups right is like taking a parlay bet on a pair of longshots.
 
I'm fine with 5 & 7. I suspect Oklahoma and North Carolina are going to be 1 and 2 most weeks the rest of the season. Those of us ranked 3 through 15 will move up and down from week to week depending on whether we win or lose. Going 16-2 will win the Big 10 and 15-3 will almost certainly win it. So Iowa is looking like a lock for a 1 or 2 seed barring injury.

And the tiebreaker scenarios almost guarantee us a double buy in the Big 10 Tournament. We probably end up playing someone like Wisconsin or Ohio State in a Friday game. They will have played the day before. We will be the more talented and more rested team. It will be strange to have everyone but Iowa fans against us. Iowa will be that BTT 1 or 2 seed that everyone wants to avoid.

I dont even think that matchup is possible since Iowa already played Wichita State. I believe they go to great extents to avoid all common matchups until the sweet 16.

Probably because Maryland only has one quality win. Iowa. Same reason their coach was pumping Iowa up so much after the game. Outside of the win over the Hawkeyes, Maryland's resume looks pretty weak.

Agree about Oklahoma and North Carolina. What we want most is to with the Big 10 and get a 1 seed. What we want second most is for the Big East to keep beating each other up so the 1 seed that comes out of there is the lowest ranked 1 seed. That way we get the mid west bracket and they get shipped west.
 
Dick Vitale actually moved Kansas up to 3, with Maryland at 7 and Iowa at 8.

Only dropping to 5th gives us a real shot and a number 1 ranking in a few weeks if we take care of business.
 
I guess maybe we won't be talked about regarding the last 4 out or the last 4 in, bubble watch, etc, etc, etc.....These kids are on a mission and they will get the ring this year....This is Iowa's year..

While you have a level of optimism that my brain will not allow me to have, its crazy to think that Iowa is easily one of 10 top teams with a legit shot of winning it all this year.
 
If we played Maryland at home and then on a neutral court, we would end up 2-1 against them. We are a better team. Period. Ranking: I don't really care as long as we are in the top 10 and in the conversation. This is so much dam fun I can't believe it...just like football!
