I guess its safe to say Iowa is off the radar receiving no votes in the pre-season coaches poll. even more interesting is that Illinois received 7 votes in the "also recieving votes" category. Tim Beckman's Illini must be considered a dark horse this year.

In the Big Ten, OSU, MSU, Wisc made the top 25. Neb, Minn, PSU, ILL and MD also received votes.

Nobody is arguing that Iowa was a top 25 team last year, but when you consider how close Iowa was to beating ISU and Neb and finishing 9-3, strange that everybody has forgot about Iowa this year..

But then again, KF and his coaches always seem to lose 2 games a year they shouldnt. so most people think Iowa will win 6 or 7 instead or 8 or 9.

In 2002 they underestimated Iowa, in 2003 they underestimated Iowa, in 2009 they underestimated Iowa, in 2015 they underestimate Iowa. They are wrong often, this year is no exception.

Or Beckman just voted his own team 18th.

You do realize you point out only 3 out of 13 years. Let's keep it real. Now point out how many years Iowa was overestimated. I think many of the analysts are careful to not hop on Iowa's wagon anymore like they did much of the 2000's. In the last 10-13 years, I would guess Iowa has been overestimated more than under.

Correct. Iowa has lost it's reputation as a program. It needs to earn it back before it gets pre-season "credit" the way it did in the 2005/06 pre-season polls. That's not happening again without another 2002-04 type run.

As for how "close" we were to beating Wisconsin & Nebraska last year not playing into it.. Well, no - nobody is going to give you much credit for moral victories. But if you want to talk about last year, Iowa didn't exactly end the season on a convincing note. 3 straight losses, including an embarrassing blowout loss in the bowl game.

Yes, but at least those years, Iowa got some votes in the pre-season. In fact most years, they get some votes, except for pre-season 2013 after that awful 4-8 2012 season.

They base things too much on the previous year rather than doing research on off season development. If they considered the development of guys like Daniels and Niemann they would think differently.

How did last year end up or any year a current player on the team had?

We have to stop being "close", and start winning those games...then we won't be "forgotten"

The isu, md, and especially the nebby games are a microcosm of the valid reasons for discontent for KF. Include the barely win against a Very average Ball State team in the list.

If we win more games they will think differently.

What???? Hawknick? I've been reading the position previews and we should be ranked way higher!!!! What's going on, you said we would be in the Bog Ten Title game and be one of the playoff teams?

.......yeah, if only the coaches that voted in that poll could spend more time evaluating the off season development on Iowa's team. It's not like they have anything better to do with their time.

I'm curious... what are the largest containers of kool-aid currently available?

I have no idea, but I would guess that since it is made from a mix it is only limited by the size of the container one has. Theoretically someone could fill a pool with it. There is a Hawkeye jello, back in the 80s there was a Hawkeye Gold soda, maybe a Hawkeye kool aid will come out sometime. However I would like the soda more.

Actually in 2009 we were preseason 21-22 depending on the poll.

Can you provide exact details on Iowa's offseason development that makes them a preseason top 25 and which team they should displace and why? Or, are you simply stating that Iowa is the only team that develops during off seasons?
