Practice Observations?

Would not be surprised to see Max Cooper have an impact after reading this article. He seems focused, driven and an all around athlete. https://www.landof10.com/iowa/next-...wr-max-cooper-see-early-playing-time-hawkeyes

This from his coach: “His ability to focus on the ball, a one-hand catch, fade-stops, vertical balls, 50-50 balls … he’s the guy that always gets that ball,” Young said. “I’ve coached 39 years here, I’ve had over 31 Division I athletes coming out of our school, but he’s by far the best wide receiver that I’ve ever coached.”

Looks like a pass that Wisnieski is going to drop and not so good coverage from Bower and Jewell.
It was hard not to notice Wisniewski wasn't on that 2 deep list KF put out. Where ya think he'll fit in? Is he still not 100% healthy or have the young guys just passed him up?

James Butler is a beast! Very toned and compact looking. Looks to have great balance. The guy is freaking ripped! This Wadley-Butler combo is going to be a good one.
He's a man. Not a tall one but dude has got himself put together. Doyle may have taken a look at him and said whatever you've been doing keep doing it...

Nebraska fans will need counseling if they go 7 - 5 this year. And 4 - 5 in conference? Ouch! Assume it crunched the losses being to Wisky, O State, Northwestern, Penn State and Iowa.

They'll have a new QB. They've done some shuffling on coaching staff there's no guarantee they'll be a contender for the West this year. I could see them being behind Iowa, Northwestern & Wisky pretty easily... (notice the order I put them in??)

I enjoyed this quote from the article:

“I went to the Iowa-Michigan State Big Ten championship (in 2015),” Cooper said. “That really gave me a new perspective on Iowa because I had never been to a game where Iowa was playing. Their fans were just awesome.”

“There were a ton of Michigan State fans; it seemed like they weren’t even there,” Steve Cooper said. “Iowa fans were just, it was incredible. Both Max and I, after we left that game, we said, ‘What a cool school, what a cool fan base. They are just so excited for that team. That would be a neat place to play.’

“Man, oh man, were they were enthusiastic. I thought the fans were going to carry them to a victory. They were just fantastic.”

While Iowa lost that game in the final 30 seconds, the Hawkeyes gained admirers in the Cooper family, which rooted for Michigan State that night. As Cooper thought about the Iowa scholarship offer, he remembered that game. He called it “living in a dream.”

Based on the pics I saw, it sure seems like Stanley is solidly on the 1 line....

Brandon Smith sure looks the part. Hopefully it's not a "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" type of player because just on physical specimen alone, he should be starting.

Wirfs is a large man.

Geno Stone looks like the prototypical safety at Iowa....if he hits like his reputation, he'll be one to watch out for.

James Butler looks like he should be a nice compliment to Wadley.

Peyton sure had a lot of pics....don't know if it means anything, but he's definitely getting reps.

What exactly am I looking at here?

It was actually a pass from Tommy Frazier to Bo Bower but Wisniski intercepted....sorry (sp).

So, here in Omaha - they shared some practice pictures from Husker camp and I seriously LOL'd at this. This is a 5th year tight f'n end.... at least he came to camp in shape.
