Postponed?

There will be no neutral court. It will not be played at carver. We will not get a forfeit, nor should we want one. It will be at assembly hall. Life is not fair. Things happen. Everyone needs to pump the breaks, settle down, and realize we are still the better and deeper team. What doesn't kill us......

Gotta win 2 games in 3 days in the NCAA tournament and 3 in 3 days to win the big tournament. Sure it's at the same location but I guess if we're traveling 3 times in 6 days tournament time will feel like cake.

It's complete BS if Iowa is forced to travel back to Bloomington in a week where they are already playing two other games. Clearly I'm biased, but if they are gonna play at one of the two schools arenas than it should be at Carver. The most fair thing to do would be make it at a neutral site. Iowa should not have to travel back to Bloomington because their facility wasn't ready for the originally scheduled game which the Hawks already traveled there for.

With that said, if a neutral site is established I hope us Hawk fans show up and support. Depending on where it's at I would consider making the trip.

Looks like the United Center would be open on Thursday. Bulls and Blackhawks are out of town/on Olympic break. It won't happen, but that'd be the ideal neutral site location. According to Google, it's a 223-mile trip for the Hawks and a 232-mile trek for Indiana.

Life isn't fair, no. But this is governed athletic competition, with a bazillion rules, regulations, etc. centered on making things fair for the participants involved.

He's right though. We're likely to get boned in this situation. Might as well recognize it and overcome the obstacles.

So glue was holding up that metal plate, seriously? Is the rest of the place being held up by duct tape?

This will all come down to the powers that be,...Insurance, IU, BIG deciding when and if Disassembly Hall is suitable to host 17,000 patrons anytime soon. My, guess that wont be a very quick decision

I wouldn't be shocked if the game is played in Bloomington, but I also wouldn't be shocked if the Commissioner's office schedules it at a neutral court. It sounds like Fran and Barta both agreed to play the game at Bankers Life tomorrow. The fact Indiana did not agree to that is their fault. Clearly they want the revenue from the game, but it's their fault the arena wasn't prepared.

If I were in Fran and Barta's position I would have zero desire to make a deal with Indiana if they keep asking for it to be in Bloomington. They tried to be flexible already, and Indiana refused. Let the 72 hrs expire and allow the B10 to decide. I think there is a decent shot they'd schedule it at a neutral court because Iowa has a legitimate argument.

And objectively speaking, the game was scheduled as a home game for Indiana and should therefore remain a home game for them.

Of course not, not when you have bureaucrats involved. How difficult would it have been to load the teams on a bus and head to an available arena? Problem should have been solved in an hour not days.

i agree with almost everything you wrote. I too would push for a neutral court game, but I would expect to be playing this game in Bloomington when all the posturing is over.

You're probably correct, but I'm holding out hope. Fran isn't one to make excuses. If push comes to shove I'm sure he'll say enough of this BS let's just go kick their *** on their own court.

Just please, if we somehow end up losing this game, don't blame it on the rescheduling...if we are a top B1G team, we would beat them anywhere, right?

It's not losing the game itself that'd be the issue. It's the potential of playing 3 games in 3 games in 6 cities that would be the potential problem.

This wasnt a weather issue or some other act of God. It was negligence on the part of Indiana and their facilities team. They have a fiduciary responsibility to ensure that their building is fit to host the game that is scheduled. They failed at that. Then, when an alternative arrangement...a very reasonable one at that....was made, Indiana declined. As far as I'm concerned, they dont get to inconvenience us when we're a game out of 1st place because they suck at building maintenance and are too stubborn to compromise.

This is the key.
