calling the miami heat the better team. the better team wins in a seven game series EVERY TIME. Going back to the regular season dallas won six of eight against the heat. are the heat more talented, sure, but they are not the better TEAM. they are the better group of individual basketball players. No matter what side of the fence you are on you are delusional to say that the heat are the better team and then make up excuses for why they didnt win. They were out coached and out played period. Two true signs of a better team.

Guys like Terry, Chandler, and Barrea make teams great.
Great players don't always make great teams.

This series was typical of that.

And the better team won. Dallas is the epitome of a great team. A superstar with a lot of really, really good players that work really, really well together on both ends of the floor.

How ya doing Mike? I was pretty worried about you last night when the Heat quit in the 4th quarter. Glad to see you aren't to depressed that all your predictions where wrong!

;) all in fun

My main prediction was three titles in four years, which is still very much alive. But I have no problem admitting the Mavs were the better team this series and they had Miami completely figured out.

That is very far from the truth.

Who exactly is saying Miami is better?

Where do you get better from that? He says more significant, as in more people are talking about Miami, and more people are happy they lost than happy that Dallas won. In no way does he say Miami was the better team.

i guess i interpreted it different than you, im sure you are right though

maybe not 100% of the time, but it happens way more often than not

Sure it does, that's a given. But you emphasized 'every time', which made me think you really believed it happened every time....and it's just not the case. The NBA it tends to be the better team more often, but in other sports it happens more often that the worse team might win (more often than in the NBA, that is).

Haha, theres the backpedal. You were very adamant that the Heat were going to win games 6 and 7 back in Miami.

Im not going to dig up all the posts but you even said in some of the Tressel threads while you were taunting our buddy Fufred that you were right about Tressel and you were going to be right about the Heat winning the title this year.

I'll admit I was wrong on this series. I did predict the Heat making the finals at the beginning of the season, so at least I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I didn't give Dallas enough credit for their defense. That and their role players really stepped up. Go down the line. Terry shot lights out after a slow start to the series. Same for Barea. Marion consistantly gave them interior scoring. Kidd knocked down some huge shots. Chandler played great defense and even became an offensive force. Even Brian frickin Cardinal hit a couple of threes. Stephenson made some huge 3 pointers.

Too much is being made of what Miami didn't do and not enough is being made about what Dallas did do. It's unfortunate that this Mavs team is old because they were a lot of fun to watch.

Yeah I did say they were going to win this year and I was wrong on that. But my original prediction was three in four years, which I still feel good about.

And because I don't want to start yet another James/Heat thread, the people who think that the Heat should trade one of the big 3 need to get a grip (Jason Whitlock, I'm looking at you.) They made the finals in their first year playing together with a limited supporting cast. Even if they don't add any pieces they're still one of the favorites to get back to the finals next year.

Obviously, changes in the collective bargaining agreement may force them to make a deal but to do it just because they lost a series is beyond ridiculous.

LeBron needs to take a couple weeks or a month or whatever off to relax and then call Hakeem Olajuwon and work with him this summer to finally get a legit post game. Dallas should not be able to match up with Miami.

Pat Riley did a great job putting together a top five, but he got lazy/sentimental filling out the rest of the team. Ilgauskas, Stackhouse, Howard, Magloire should have never been on this team. They should have went with younger, more athletic defenders. LeBron's the most versatile player in the league, the Heat should be able to dictate matchups against any team in the league but they were trying to match the Mavs' moves all series.
