PLEASE STOP

LeBron needs to take a couple weeks or a month or whatever off to relax and then call Hakeem Olajuwon and work with him this summer to finally get a legit post game. Dallas should not be able to match up with Miami.

Pat Riley did a great job putting together a top five, but he got lazy/sentimental filling out the rest of the team. Ilgauskas, Stackhouse, Howard, Magloire should have never been on this team. They should have went with younger, more athletic defenders. LeBron's the most versatile player in the league, the Heat should be able to dictate matchups against any team in the league but they were trying to match the Mavs' moves all series.

If LeBron works with Hakeem and studies his video the way Kobe has the last couple summers, the rest of the league is doomed; however, LeBron doesn't have a good track record of putting in work, so I doubt that will happen.

I think that 100% the team that wins plays better...but that doesn't make them the better team.

In a one game NCAA tournament I agree with you, but in a seven game series, yes it does mean the team that wins is the better team.

Also, I'm talking about basketball only, not hockey or baseball. I think a hot goalie or great starting pitching can carry a lesser team but in the NBA the best team wins a seven games series almost every single time.

I can handle that. I just don't think it happens EVERY time.

Who exactly is saying Miami is better?

here is at least one person

It was explained by another poster, but to reinterate, I didn't mean that Miami was the better team. My comments were referring to the fact NO ONE is talking about the Mavs. Look at this board. There are 10 topics crushing the Heat, and two praising the Mavs. My larger point stands; No one is celebrating the win, but they are celebrating the loss, and that is what makes Miami the significant team.

To the point of this thread...Who said Miami was the better team? PLEASE STOP and tell me, because I must have missed it.

And with those contracts that is the only type of supporting cast they are ever going to have.

Depends on what happens to the collective bargaining agreement. If the soft cap remains, they'll be able to add a one good veteran a year with the midlevel exception and whatever picks they make in the draft.

If they go to a hard cap, it's likely one of the three will be traded so it's a moot point.

Not true at all. They Heat were right in the middle of the league in payroll this year. Haslem and Miller were both hurt pretty much all season, getting those two, especially Miller, back at full strength will really help. They'll be able to pick up a couple mid level guys each year, and there's going to be a lot of players who want to come to Miami.

Also, the NBA is not going to break up the big three by putting in a hard cap. If they go to a hard cap it will be done over several years, not in one season. The Heat set ratings records all year, the NBA knows they are great for business.

All teams have injury issues. Haslem and Miller were at least able to play this playoffs. Caron Butler couldn't and than Brendan Heywood went down with injury

Reminds me very much of the Lakers/Celtics of the 60s.
(Yeah, I'm old)

Lakers usually had the better collection of individual talent.
Celtics always won the title.

Celtics were the better team.

You must be old. Because your memory is failing you. Throughout the 60's, the Lakers mainly had 2 All-Stars, Elgin Baylor and Jerry West. They added Gail Goodrich in the latter part and an old Wilt at the end. That team won it in 71-72.

The Celts had 7 all-stars in the 60's including Bill Russell, Havlicek, K C Jones, Sam Jones, Heinsohn, etc.

To say the Lakers had the better players is just not accurate.

The Mavs were the better team. They were much greater than the sum of their parts. The Heat were not. They had a better assortment of talent, but talent isn't everything. LeBron has more God-given ability than probably any player in history. That doesn't mean he's the greatest of all time.

The role players for the Mavs were the big difference. They each had their own specific roles, and they played those roles perfectly. Whether it was Terry dropping 27, or Cardinal taking charges and delivering a hard foul or two, the Mavs bench was crucial. The Heat have role players, but their role seemed to be "stay out of the Big Three's way".
