Fun fact...the surrender was supposed to be signed on the USS Iowa, it being Roosevelt's favorite ship. It was the only battleship with a bathtub, installed just for Roosevelt. But since FDR died, and Truman was from Missouri, Truman changed it up.
Yep, if memory serves me correctly, Roosevelt took the Iowa to the Yalta Convention. Those were pretty dangerous times to be navigating the high seas.

The Missouri was re-comissioned for the 1991 Desert Storm. A National Guard soldier that I worked with back then served on that ship. Seeing it is on my bucket list.

Was it FDR or Truman who had cases of Coors beer illegally smuggled to the White House? It was one of the those presidents, possibly Ike as well.

So are we rooting for Nebraska to win next weekend? :0

Of course we are actually rooting for Nebby. the hawks control their own destiny with Nebby as they can beat them head to head.

We need Wisky to lose at least two as of right now but probably 4 games.

I dont think it is going to happen but what the heck

I think you are confusing presidential history with the hit movie "Smokey & the Bandit."

"Why do you want all that beer?"

"Because he's thirsty, dummy!"

Did you know that Mike Henry (Junior in all three movies) was a former NFL player?

He is shown in shorts or skivvies or something in the final movie of the triology, the one that about five people watched. His legs were definitely muscular enough to pass for a former football player.

Some years Christmas comes early. Who wants to play with a hypothetical? Let's say knowing ahead of time Neb would win only 1 or 2 games this year with the immediate future looking as dim as it does would Frost hesitate on taking the gig??
Their D is an entire rebuild. It was always going to be did nobody see how that D looked last yr? It surprised me how the entire media world seemed to overlook that and were pretty much openly rooting for Neb to do well this year. Their Oline isn't built for that style of O at all. Morgan is a stud. He's a great player. But beyond that with a true freshman at QB that's already been nicked up the disaster that is Neb football this year is what it is and getting that team back to relevancy will take some time and quick player development.

I really wish I knew to what extent Frost thought he knew what he was getting into....

Just reading the tea leaves, I'm pretty sure Frost and Co thought they would compete for the West this year.

I pray to God that Ferentz squared and company realize that we may have to score some points that day, get into a shootout with them similar to last year's ISU game. And I know that's not their MO. But Nebby is going to go no huddle uptempo, lengthen the game, speed you up. Their defense is a sieve. Make sure we keep it that way. We had better put our playmakers in position to make plays. None of this close to the vest crap. If they made us on of their first victims this year their fans could destroy this forum.

I shouldn't even be typing this, but that is the type of game we occasionally lose. That team shouldn't able to hang on the same field with us. Stomp them!
That'll be the game we'll get, unfortunately.

Well of course that was their public take on it and some in the media. Was that their honest realistic take though? I'd have a tough time thinking they were believing the press clippings I mean he KNEW what they had for a roster and what he'd have to work with. Maybe he underestimated the quit that those players have in them when they get down a little bit in games because they've shown plenty of that here lately...

I'm sure the contract and buyout are enough that if the guy never wins another game and manages to not get fired for cause, he will be financially set for life. In terms of his professional acumen, the guy couldn't even keep track of his most prized possessions while moving, so I don't know that a lot of these guys are exactly super forward thinking.

Nebby fan base won't accept anything less.

Just want to say again that the mistake Nebraska keeps making is that they hire coaches who have no clue what it takes to compete physically in the Big Ten against Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, Iowa and Northwestern, and now Purdue.

This is a cold weather conference. You have to have bruisers in your front 7 on both sides of the ball. BRUISERS. Nebraska is soft right now and has been for a long time. They can't compete physically. Pelini understood that point. Callahan, Mike Riley and now Frost don't really understand it. Maybe Frost will figure it out (maybe not). Rodriguez at Michigan didn't get it. Harbaugh does, because he played in the conference.

You can't compete in the Big Ten until you have a physical defense that can stop other teams in the conference. Nebraska is a LONG way from being relevant again in college football. They just cannot compete up front. At least not yet.

If he never wins another game in his life, then as a fan base were all winners. I wonder based on recent history, how long they give him to right the ship and whether we'll see that sellout streak end this season. Then again I think I'd pay decent money as an opposing fan, or fan of college football, to get a first hand view of the dumpster fire that is Nebraska football.

The evidence all seems to point that way. I mean over the last 5 years, we have only averaged 39.2 pts/game against Nebraska (4-1 in that span), outscoring them 196-98. Damn Ferentzeses, playing it so close to the vest.

I gotta believe the head coach and AD were setting the tone for a reason. I'm sure he believes all the hype about himself and thought he would waltz in and turn it around. In realty though, he doesn't have that much head coaching experience so he probably just misjudged the situation by quite a bit.

The sellout streak is a farce. My understanding is they call big donors a few days before a game that isn't a sellout and have them buy the remaining tickets at steeply discounted prices and then the donors turn around and donate them local charities. They have a rabid fanbase, but there are a lot of horrible seats in that stadium and there is no way in hell they legit have sold all those seats in November games when the team isn't that good.
