I do not know about anyone else, but I do not know how much more bad news I can take from our men's basketball program. I find myself cringing at every new rumor...am I the only one?

Remember this feeling in two years when/if something else goes wrong, a player transfers, or the team has yet to get to .500 (I'm not predicting it, I'm just saying it's possible.)
If we want to avoid this kind of stuff, we HAVE to have continuity at the head coach position. I'm talking 8+ years. So whenever we hit a rough patch (and I'm sure we will), I don't want to hear rumblings about firing McCaffery. We've seen where the coaching carousel gets you, and it is not fun. For better or for worse, we've got to stick with our coach, acknowledge that he's taking over a terrible situation, and give him some time to right the ship. It will not be fast, and it will probably not be linear-- there will be steps forward, and there will be steps back. To put it another way-- there will likely be just as much bad news as good news over the next few months and even years. Better to just accept that now and save ourselves the ulcers.
I think the reason fans were impatient with Lick is because it was killing us slowly to watch them play. He also didnt make any changes when needing. I'm not saying Fran is the savior(i hope he is) but if he can keep his pace similar to Siena at Iowa it will be easier to be patient with him.You are right, continuity is what it will take, but will the fan base be patient? It seems that their patience has grown less and less with each recent coach...I am in for the long ride and I will always support our coach until he is out the door...some would say to a fault.
It is just hard to watch us lose players every year and our best players at that...
Agree, its not the end of the world.deep breaths....relax

I think Gary Barta got us an excellent coach who is going to be up for the task of rebuilding this program. Give him time. I think next year will be better than this year was...regardless of who transfers out.
Don't bet on it, best recruit and best player both gone....could easily lose 25+ next year.
