PFF College - Iowa

Thing I'm curious to see about AJ, he will be playing a lot more minutes....so will he still be a beast by mid 4th Quarter?

No curiosity here. I look at it in the opposite way. More snaps = more time to understand the tendencies of the guy across from you. By the 4th quarter he will have won the physical and psychological matchup against his counterpart. The only problem that concerns me is him not getting enough snaps.

I am most excited to see how good Brents can be, more than any other player on the team other than Epenesa.

I'm still a fan of keeping him fresh. Obviously he should get a lot more snaps this year, but he HAS to be in on passing downs so if he can get some early plays off to keep him in beast mode I'm all for it.

Does this mean these are some of the slowest receivers in the BIG that have difficulty creating space? Not sure how to take that stat.

If Ohio State couldn't make the playoffs when it's only loss was to Purdue, could Iowa?

Ours will be due to something like a botched snap on a XP or something, not an embarrassing loss like OSU took. Playoffs will be Bama, Clemson, Iowa and either the Pac 10 or Big 8 champ. Notre Dame ain't getting in this year.

Because he's a guy who's got a MOTOR!!!

Seriously though, why presume he would have more difficulty than any other DE. He at least has a ton of experience coming into the season.

LOL.

And then Iowa getting killed by Alabama or Clemson 145-3 in the semis.

Clemson has outscored all non SEC/ACC opponents 98-20.

Alabama has outscored non SEC/ACC opponents 142-83 and did get beat by Ohio State once.

The last two times a B1G team even appeared in the CFP they got blown out 38-0 and 31-0 in the first round. I'm sorry, but for anyone who has dreams and aspirations of making the CFP and beyond that winning a game or keeping the score within 50 pts, you should abandon your delusion and be content with hope of winning the Big Ten and being left out of the CFP (which is going to be the new norm). The top teams in the SEC/ACC play big boy football and the Big Ten might as well be D-2.

Folks can be mad about it and flame me all they want, but it doesn't change facts. Until someone can prove me wrong by a Big Ten team putting up even a hint of a fight it's all wasted breath.

I'm really hoping Tyler Goodson is the real deal. We need a back with speed. Our trio now are all good backs...but if last year is any indication...they aren't going to house anything. They also need to be able to make the first guy miss...and that didn't happen enough. Personally...I think you need a Toren Young to pound a team...then you use Sargent/Goodson to add some wiggle.
