Percy Gibson and the Sunrise Duo??

Do we still have a shot at getting Gibson?

Is there any way we get both Katenda and Olaseni on Tuesday?

Thanks

The latest I've been reading out here is that there is mutual interest between us and Gibson, but we were not in Katenda's Top-3. Olaseni, not sure.

So it seems like Gibson & Olaseni are possibilities, but apparently not Katenda. Many out here know more than I do, but just passing along what I've been reading in recent days.

Katenda is in all likelihood headed to Notre Dame. Olaseni may end up here, but he seems to have been looking for a better offer elsewhere, and rumor has it that he got one over the weekend (FWIW).

Don't know much at all about Gibson other than it's been said there is mutual interest. Michigan State also declined to offer him, which can only help our chances.

I believe Katenda is chosing between ND, Wake and Iowa (although, at least based on user comments on these boards, Iowa is probably a long shot).

Olaseni is chosing between Iowa, Oklahoma (which hasn't offered a scholarship), and an anonymous school Olaseni visited this past weekend and was offered a scholarship. Based on Olaseni's actions over the last few weeks, it appears that although Iowa may have been the "best" offer he received, it wasn't the offer he wanted. Maybe he got the offer he wanted this past weekend.

Gibson's best offers are Minnesota, Temple, and USC. I think we have a fair shot. As long as other "bigger name" schools dont get involved. A lot of teams are pretty full so I'd have to say we will likely be in his top 3 or so. Just my guess though.

Olaseni most likely visited Wichita State this past weekend, but they also received a commitment so they are full now as well. Based on the scholarship situation it seems like Olaseni's only legit offer right now is Iowa. Whether that is a good thing or bad is up for you to decide.

If Gabe picks us then I'll support him cause hes a hawk, but if not, then I wont lose any sleep over it, now if we get Gibson, that will be by far the best recruiting job fran has done.

I believe that the bold is the school he visited. If they are full now, it looks good for our chances with Olaseni.

I have no insider info, but would shocked if Olaseni signs with us. I figured WSU woudl be in the mix, but didn't know they were full. Still think he ends up at Tulsa, Missouri, due to his desire (apparently) to not be a Hawk. At this point I am not sure if getting would be good or not. He seems to really want to be somewhere else.

I am glad you have no insider info.
Has Missouri or Tulsa even recruited him? Have not heard their names in the process.
I am not taking offense at any comments the media ascribed to any recruit, because these kids are teenagers not all that savvy in public relations or dealing with the press.
I hope Gabe commits to the Hawks. But,since I have no insider info,I will not speculate one way or another.

From his actions it doesn't seem as though Olesani has any interest at all in being a Hawk, which is fine.

That being said, I'd like to see Fran pull his offer and move on (even though I know that won't happen before tomorrow).

Do we really know all of his actions? I'm sure if he really is jerking us around then Fran is smart enough to realize it and he knows more about the situation than any of us. If Fran chooses to let him accept an offer then I'm fine with it, but just stating we should pull his offer when we dont know the whole story is absurd.

Do you mean the USC that our best player left us for last year, or the one that had just about the best recruiting class in the nation last year?

I think we have a great shot at Gibson. We can sell him the opportunity to play against both Michigan Teams and the chance to go back to michigan up to twice a year and also the opportunity to play them in the Big Ten tourney. Also his family has the BTN to watch him on.

The way Olaseni is treating Iowa and the lack of commitment he is giving really makes me NOT want him to come to Iowa. I could definitely see him being someone to worry about transferring at some point out of Iowa because he didn't really want to be there to begin with. Not something Iowa should deal with if we don't have to.

I agree. Some fans seem to feel like Iowa BB is UNC or Duke and it should be bowed down to like we are some kind of powerhouse program.
It is ridiculous to take a few quotes and presume to know what a recruit is thinking about Iowa.

Or was it the USC that slid *** backwards into the NCAA tournament and lost in the opening round?

Fuller might have been (questionable) our best player in the year prior but he most certainly would not have been our best on this past years team.
