Penn State Said to Be Planning Paterno’s Exit

Penn State reporter Ben Jones is saying that the Board of Trustees voted Paterno out; he was then asked to resign and refused to do so.

I would imagine at this point they are just hammering out the paperwork and financial details.

Good point, just seems predicting someones death is kind of out there.....at least Bear was predicting his own death....either way all of this is a mess JoePa needs to step into reality quickly. If he cares about that team and his school they need to be led by someone else not him.

Just a horrible chain of events all the way around ... first and foremost for the innocent lives impacted by the horrid acts of one adult ... It appears many people dropped the ball here -- including Joe Pa. An unfortunate way for Joe Pa to exit the program but when something this serious happens on your watch and you don't do more to find the answers ... well ... I don't feel too sorry for you ... especially when you are talking about the innocence of children ... Just one big, horrid, unhappy story all the way around ...
 
dont feel sorry for him in the least. i feel sorry for kids that were molested that will have to deal with this the rest of their lives. i could care less about some coach and his legacy and how he ended his career. stand up for these kids 10 years ago and maybe you dont go out this way.
 
this will be a huge black mark on penn state for a long long time. gosh, makes me think of shawshank redemption for some reason...penn state tarnished forever
 
I get the feeling that if the Trustees did ask JoePa to resign, he probably told them to go to hell

MHA, I assume you mean the end of Shawshank, when the cops showed up to clean house ... yeah I could see JoePa sitting at his desk with pistol in hand when they come to tell him he's fired ... but aiming it at the poor dumb bastards who come through the door
 
just all the corruption at shawshank...made me think of PEnn State, all the brass.
They are going to clean house there man, they are all gone

How does this effect the Big Ten as a whole? Maybe this should be in a separate thread, but how does a weakened Penn St effect the Big Ten? At least I am assuming PSU will be down for a number of years. After all, Joe Pa made this team, can someone else walk in and keep it going after all this mess? And who would want that challenge?

The last thing the Big Ten needs is another weak team.
