Just had a caller on KCJJ say he spoke with Cordell Pemsl, and with cordell’s mother on Friday, and they said Cordell will have surgery this coming week and plans to take a medical redshirt.

She could ball in her day as well, both at Dubuque Wahlert and the University of Dubuque.

Her sister Heidy wasn't bad, either.

It's a bloody shame about Cordell's health!! He has a super upside, so much so I blv he could play professionally if/when it's all over! He could lead Europe League in rebounding one day.

You look at NBA players like Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, Sam Bowie. They had more than enough talent for the league. Their bodies just wouldn't let them do it. You could probably add Derrick Rose to that list as well.

This could be the end of the line for Cordell. His body may be sending him a message. Even with modern medicine you can mess with your knees only so many times. Knowing him he will do everything it takes to fight back and at least finish his Iowa career.

Derek Rose with a strong year for the Timberwolves so far this season. 18.5 points/4.5 assists/3 rebs a game this year. But, yes, your point stands. Sometimes, the human body can only take so much. Especially a bigger/taller body.

Hopefully, this will get Pemsl back on track to finishing his career strong. Loved the energy he brought to the ISU game. I was there. There was an audible buzz when folks saw him warming up and a loud cheer when he checked into the game. Folks are rooting for him.

Pemsl definitely one of my favorite Hawks. Brings energy, attitude and fight to the game. Having surgery now is the right thing to do. Losing Cook and Baer after this season, he will be needed next year. His toughness will be missed this season, but he will have plenty of time to finally heal and when he returns next season, he will be hungry and ready to play. Best wishes Cordell and look forward to a fast recovery.
