Paul Finebaum Absolutely Torches Scott Frost

Guys like that can get leached onto from family & friends. He could have 'business loans' out to folks for significant chunks of $ he may never get much back of over time if at all. There's just an unlimited amount of ways guys with money handle it. Some have a tougher time saying no then others when folks you know come with their hands out.

Or he could be extremely frugal and have a pile of it safely invested in mutual funds or suit cases with cash buried in the back yard. It's just hard telling.
Or as rumors suggest he invested it in a consumable white power that already went in his nose

I'm having a hard time finding the Nebraska vs Iowa fan dialogue - animated video on youtube.. Anyone able to find it?

I've done some work for two pro ball players who got into bad business deals. It's sad. The same story with both. Dudes they trusted, knew for years, had great ideas and just needed seed capital. They both got on the hook for personal guaranties on construction loans for big real estate projects. Poof. And these weren't even nefarious (which I've seen too) these were just cases of putting a guy with no real estate or project management experience in charge of 8 figure projects. It's real easy to lose a lot quickly.

That sucks... Cause that burns bridges not just the cash too.

This is a cheesy connection so take it for what it's worth, but one of my co-workers is a huge husker fan and his son is a student intern/volunteer/employee (not sure what you call it) with the athletic department down there.

He says it's pretty well known that he knocked up a beer cart girl from one of the golf courses and his wife has left town. And you're correct about the wedding ring thing according to him. Said he quit wearing it last season during the covid season.

What a fuckin downfall for the guy.

He went from king of the world at UCF being a natty QB and head coach of a "championship" team, to all of a sudden the laughing stock of the US sports world. Even his own fans can't stand the guy, now he's going to lose his wife and kids, get fired in the next couple years, and no way is he going to ever get a big job again.

And before anyone says, "Yeah, but he's rich..." That may be, but his wife is gonna get half of everything, and spousal support, and child support which ain't gonna be a small amount. And then he's gonna have child support to the beer cart chick. Is he going to be in the poor house? No way. But is losing family and half your stash (and then some) worth it just to bang a 19 year old?

It's almost like we're watching a Motley Crue Behind the Music being live-streamed. Had the world by the ass and now he's the equivalent to being spun out on coke in an hourly motel trying to find the hooker that just stole his wallet.

Well if Frost knocked up the beer cart girl, and many of those ladies are very fine looking for a reason at golf outings, without asking her if she was on the pill and without himself using protection then he deserves what he gets.

He should have used the Chapelle show method in the skit where he makes the young lady sign some type of waiver. funny show

There's a difference between what one has made and what they have... We have no idea what he's got. I'm sure he's bought a nice house or 2 or 3... He's probably got multiple vehicles and toys and whatever investments he may have some tied up in. It's just hard telling how a guy like that spends his money. He may have a pile of it or he could have much of it tied up or largely spent. One would think it's tough to spend it all living the Lincoln NE lifestyle but ya never know. If you want to spend it it's not that tough to do

Yes, bad investments to "friends" who cheat you have happened to many a rich person who doesnt know business

Omfg, their stupid sellout streak. The best thing that could happen to that program psychologically is to just let it end (which is why I hope they keep it going for years to come!)

It's the only thing they've got to hang their hats on at this point. "Have you heard about our sellout streak?" Yes, ffs, we've all heard, we just don't care!

I think it's just a very visible, high profile symbol that they cannot move on. It doesn't mean you have to accept sucking, but after 20+ frickin' seasons, at some point don't you have to make "accepting that times have changed" a priority as a step towards rebuilding?

But, yeah, sure - big thanks to your donors for keeping your stupid hubris alive for another game. Congrats!

Probably one of the best and safest real estate investments if you have a lot of money is buying duplexes, four plexes, etc using your money as collateral, having really good realtors and having good real estate managers. You buy a duplex in a good market for $400,000 and let the renters pay all the money to buy it as rent is high and demand for apartments/duplexes is high now. In 15 years you own the duplex outright using other peoples money and the property is now worth $550,000 which is all profit and you pay your income taxes and property taxes.

Hard to go wrong as people need a place to live, as long as you dont snort up the profits or drink or gamble them away.

But no as other people have said these highly paid people like a Tony Dorsett etc give their money to other people to invest, the money is lost or stolen, then you cant even pay your income taxes. Bad and sad

And asking about the pill doesn’t work when you’re a rich dude dealing with young chicks who want lots of money.

Ask me how I know (don’t worry, I’m not lucky enough to be rich and or attractive)….

There’s a really hot chick in my town with a six year old, a job paying in the mid teens per hour, and a decent house and car that are both paid for. Big Vikings fan who likes to go to training camp in Mankato, and her kid looks a lot like Adrian Peterson. Funny thing is that a blood test and a judge thought he looked a lot like Adrian Peterson too. The kid’s never met Adrian Peterson, though.

Getting neutered costs about $1,500 and would have saved Frost millions and millions.

Not even remotely surprising... Shawn Kemp I'm sure can relate. This is the same Adrian Peterson whos reputation is painted as a loving involved parent that cares so much he's willing to spank his kids? Just not the estranged ones he has from getting strange...

Frost isn't a great coach, but the bigger problem was that Moos let him bring every single one of his UCF buddies.

Hayden Fry always said he didn't want to have assistants working for him that didn't have aspirations of moving up the ladder towards a HC job. He knew that meant guys weren't going to be sticking around long term, and it works.

Moos let Frost bring 11 G5 assistants to coach in the 2nd toughest overall conference in the nation. Say what you want about the B1G, but those guys were G5 assistants for a fuckin' reason.

What Moos should have done was say, "Listen here, Scooter...We think you're the guy and we think you have what it takes, but your ass is going to go get some big boy football assistants and we're going to pay them accordingly. You're gonna tell your middle school buddies to stay home and sit this one out."

None of the 11 assistants Frost brought with him had more than 3 years college coaching experience (most had 2 years, a couple had no experience other than administrative jobs at UCF), and none of them had ever spent a single day coaching in P5 football except for Troy Walters (one year) and Chinander (one year). And all of a sudden each one of them was a coach at a B1G school. Does not compute. If Nick Saban wants to bring his guys with him you let him bring his guys.

But Frost was playing Pop Warner compared to the B1G and there's zero chance 12 guys were ready to coach real deal Holyfield football. Ze---ro chance.

If Moos thought he needed to tell Frost who he had to hire as his assistants, he should have realized the guy wasn't ready to be his head coach. You can have assistants who want to be head coaches, guys who never want to be, NFL guys, high school guys, old guys, young guys, it doesn't matter. Good coaches are good coaches. A lot of of Kirk's success is based on having a network that included coaches like O'Keefe, Norm, Phil...and always keeping ears and eyes open about other coaches that have traits he looks for, whether that's a high school coach at Iowa City West or a receivers coach at Northern Illinois or a coach at Harvard.

A lot of the Frost story reminds me of Sark's time here at Washington. From a maturity standpoint wasn't ready to handle the responsibility of being a head football coach at a major university, and also surrounded himself with young assistants who pulled double duty as drinking buddies. Sark was regularly getting trashed at several spots, most of them with top tier talent working there. (And reportedly some banging, too). Which also ultimately contributed to a divorce down the road.

That said, Sark did a pretty nice job pulling UW out of the gutter (even if he plateaued there), and left a non-college town with enough of his reputation intact that it didn't submarine him forever, even after it caught up with him a bit more in LA. Not sure Frost will have shown enough from a coaching standpoint (and possibly a lot more damage to his reputation in that fishbowl) to bounce back as quickly as Sark has.

It's often a pretty good tip off when they can't get their seed money anywhere else.

No one will ever convince me that 12/12 guys from a group of 5 school in a soft conference, most of whom have literally zero coaching experience past 2 years with Frost, are ready for Big Ten football.

That would be like a really good high school coach getting his first college gig and taking his high school staff with him. Completely fucking ludicrous.

Ludicrous to even think of, and even more ludicrous to let it happen.

Not sure what is so ludicrous about that. Troy Walters was his first OC and had stops at Indiana State, Texas A&M, NC State, Colorado (and CF). His DC was at Oregon, the Philadelphia Eagles, Northern Iowa (and CF). His QB coach had been all over, both college and high school. Didn't Jerry Kill bring along his entire staff at every stop up the ladder, the highest rung being Northern Illinois before he took the Minnesota job?

Not saying Frost hired the right guys, but if you are the AD (and school president), you are putting a ton of trust into the coach as the public face of the university and the state's highest paid employee. If you can't trust to him to hire his own assistants when it comes to football than how can you trust him to be the public face of your university?

If you read my post I mentioned those guys had been other places. Nowhere as coordinators other than 2 years at UCF. They were Frost's bar buddies.
His QB coach had been all over, both college and high school.
Lol. The highlight of Verduzco's career was as an assistant at an AAC school, the illustrious Rutgers. During his tenure there Rutgers had a .200 WP.

Kill was a complete flop at Minnesota, finishing his tenure with a losing conference and overall record. Not sure he's a good poster boy for staff recruitment.

What is Frost’s next gig? You go to coaching rehab….he joins the Alabama coaching staff or you become an consultant/advisor to Belichek the exact same route Beliema took.
I heard my old 8th grade Jr. High school team needs a coach.
