i love bodyslamming style
I think one thing most can agree on is that in todays game the pg can be a dominant scorer and are more athletic. Heard several people talk about this change over the years.
Isiah Thomas, Oscar Robertson, and Magic Johnson say hello.
I don't know about PG's being "dominant scorers" nowadays, but I would say the PG position sees more scoring now than it has in the past for sure. PG's weren't counted on as much to score as compared to now. And overall, PG's are probably a little more athletic today I suppose. CP3 is just sick, and Westbrook comes to mind too. I wouldn't call Nash overly athletic. Kidd is way past his prime, but that dude definitely was and is still pretty damn athletic.
Steve Nash is extremely athletic. A guy with average athleticism is not winning back to back MVPs.Isiah Thomas, Oscar Robertson, and Magic Johnson say hello.I don't know about PG's being "dominant scorers" nowadays, but I would say the PG position sees more scoring now than it has in the past for sure. Let me start by saying I'm young and haven't seen them in person but I have hundreds of hours of video on the old Lakers, Celtics, and Bulls. Some will argue that if you haven't seen them in person you can't form and accurate opinion. Let me assure you that I've seen current games in person and on tv and I promise its the same thing.
Jordan-Dominated his time, and would dominate our time. Plain and simple. Only difference I see are the faces in the posters.
Magic-I think in todays game and at his size he would be even more impressive today.
Reggie Miller-Picture Ray Allen. Then picture someone a little better then Ray Allen and who likes to get under your skin. Now your seeing Reggie Miller. Same numbers, just too good.
Clyde The Glide- I would love to see him play in todays game because he would force teams to play fast and smart on defense. I think his numbers would be somewhat similar.
Stockton-See jazz in the 80s and 90s. This decade would look no different as great vision and passing skills will always translate well.
K. Malone-Giant girl. Big men today would own him. Seen his game several times don't know if I saw him dunk once, took some cute layups tho.
Larry Legend-In his time he was amazing and far superior to others. One of my favorite players to watch on video. However he is the one person who's game I think wouldn't translate as well today. If you look at his numbers they are good but not necessarily top 10 player material. I think his biggest problem would be his speed and the speed of todays players. I believe he would still be great just not as dominant as in his day.
I tried giving an objective opinion and I know some older posters will drill me over Larry but I've seen the same thing as you guys and slow is slow. I see him as a mike miller today but a more dominant.
.
Look at NBA rosters, things have really not changed much at all. There are just as many stiffs as there was 20 years ago, Luke Walton is the NBA for god sake.
There are slightly better athletes now but essentially overall there is little to no difference vs 20 years ago.
If anything the league has gotten smaller overall. Dwight Howard is about the only real center in the game today who could hold his own against the likes of Olajawon, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq, Mutumbo, Morning ect.
I went to a Bulls-Pacers game the year the Bulls won 72 games or whatever. Those teams fought like hell every time down the court. I would not pay money to go to a Bulls game today - I only go if I get a free ticket. They just half a** it the first 44 minutes and then the last four minutes or so, they actually play. I went to one Lakers-Bulls game where Kobe just walked down and tossed up about 15 shots in a row over Hinrich and had like 22 points in the first quarter. The Bulls just quit. There is absolutely no entertainment value to NBA anymore.
I have been on this planet for 41 years and for 41 years the knock against the NBA is "they don't play til the last 2 minutes" man, that gets tired. Half of the time people don't even know if it is accurate or not they just say it because they heard other people say it. It sounds "right" to them.
Aaaaaaand those centers wouldnt be able to keep up with the pace and athleticism of the centers nowadays.

You don't think David Robinson, Hakeem, a skinny young Shaq, Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe could keep pace with the centers of today? Wow.
Any one of those guys would be, at worst, the second best center in the league now.
The last 2 minutes is incorrect but there is more emphasis on the 4th quarter and if you watch NBA games you would notice this. The reason for it is because how long the game lasts and the long seasons. This is why NBA playoff basketball is some of the best basketball to watch since they are generally going full tilt the entire game.
Except that all those guys, except for Shaq and Ewing, were quick and ran the floor. Mourning in his 20s could get up and down, and Mutumbo, Hakeem, and Robinson had the quicks and mobility of forwards.
I watch plenty of NBA games....Randy Moss went hard all the time? Manny Rameriz? Back to Back in Milwaukee I get why you are not going to get someone's best effort. Baby Momma drama, your head may not be in it. I get all that. There is plenty of quality play that goes on in the 1st 3 qtrs., you get decent games that go the full 48 minutes from time to time. If you watched the NBA maybe you would notice this.
People rattle off that 2 minute deal because they heard it from someone else, it sounds good so they say it.....When in reality they have no clue.
agree, people think athletic and only think leaping ability. there is more to being an athlete than being able to dunk and Nash didn't penetrate at will without quicks.
he probably could have quit bball at age 25 and played pro soccer at its highest level had he wanted to.
