PAC12 OOC games and drop ISU...thoughts

From reading the thread about Pollard's comments I think it will be time to embrace a rotating schedule against PAC12 teams and drop ISU from the schedule. The hawks are going to stop making much money at all on a trip to Ames.

The games against PAC12 teams will be on better tv channels, probably a lot of them on ABC at 11, 2:30 and 6 or 7 PM. Probably better tv revenue than against ISU.

Nine B1G games soon and a game against PAC12 is a tough schedule which leaves room for just 2 "hopefully warmup games" against lesser teams.

Do you think it is time to end the ISU series?

If Iowa is playing lets say Colorado, Washington St., Oregon St. do you really think they'd make more?

When you average those games in with playing USC, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA on national or regional ABC or regular espn rather than espnU

You people are stupid by wanting to drop the CY-Hawk game. Its a huge game for our state. Who cares about whos making money, its about the two BCS schools in Iowa. Also you sound like a bunch of pu$$y$ by wanting to run away from ISU. Get over it.

From a financial aspect, the ISU game is an absolute win for Iowa. They get a guaranteed sellout in exchange for probably the cheapest road trip they ever play. Their television revenue doesn't change any if they're on BTN vs. ABC.

I'd dump Iowa State in a heartbeat. Let someone else along with the State of Iowa subsidize their athletics programs other than the Hawks.

You sound like a clowny.

The Hawks are also going to be able to keep all the money from tickets sales when the Iowa/ISU game is played in Kinnick after this year. So Iowa will actually be making more money from the Iowa/ISU game when this current contract runs out.

I was unaware of this change. Yes that is huge as there is a difference of 20000 tickets per site. Yes, I know ISU charges about double for the Iowa game.

Let me put it this way, if Iowa plays 9 conf games I would rather see us play USC and Ucla in kinnick once in a while or play at some new competition in the Pac12.

If you are an old enough hawk fan to remember all the great non-conference games Iowa played like Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Tennessee a few times while Iowa State played Pacific and Kent State.

The hawks played a nite game at Miami of Florida in the '60s when Ted the stork hendricks was there. Great call on the radio by zabel.

I loved the hawks playing that great intersectional rivalry.

Honestly it wouldn't bother me at all. I'm all about ISU going Bill Snyder on our schedule. It makes a heck of a lot more sense to me.

With the new TV contracts, ISU will be a breakeven athletic department regardless of the Iowa ticket prices.

I am surprised more Cyclone fans do not think this way load up on bottom feeder MAC teams, Sun Belt conference teams, go .500 in conference and get preferential treatment in bowl games because the fan base travels well.

At this point, do you really need Iowa on the schedule?
