Pac-10 considering expansion=Iowa is a frontrunner for 11th team

Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott says that if the conference is going to expand, a decision will likely be made in the next year.
Scott spoke Tuesday on a conference call to announce the hiring of former Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg as his new deputy.

Scott said it made sense to have a decision about expansion before starting to negotiate new television deals that expire following the 2011-12 academic year.
Scott says “serious evaluationâ€￾ of the topic will go on in the next six to 12 months. He said the primary factor in the decision will be finding schools that fit into the conference culturally and academically and determining whether the benefits of adding extra teams outweigh the costs.

Utah, BYU to name a couple might be considered.

Signed,

Pittsburgh is joining the Big 10, expect the announcement on Thursday.

Makes as much sense as Dallas being in the NFC East.

my real question is...would they be retarded and still call themselves the Pac-10? kinda like some other conference I know...

Actually they're changing the name of the Big 10 to the Biggerbettermoreawesomer 12 after a team is added. Back to your question, yes the Pac-10 is going to be mentally challenged about it.

For the record, the chance of any of the Big Ten's 11 teams leaving the conference anytime in the next 10 years is 0%. I'm sure in ten years, you could say the same thing. And ten years after that. And another ten after that.
