OK HawkeyeNation friends. Just out of curiosity.

What is the over/under of what Iowa's preseason #9 ranking will be at the end of the 2010-2011 season? Do you think Iowa will be ranked higher than 9 or lower?

We will be ranked #1 at the end of the season.

I think we will be around 12 at the end of the season most likely.

I hope I'm wrong but that is how I see it going.

any guess from me would be just that. i'm thinking regular season 10-2 and if that gets us a BCS game (and a win) i think top ten. if not a BCS win (or bowl loss) and 10-3 i see somewhere around 15 or so. i'll take top ten any year.

Better than the Star Telegrams predictions here in DFW. They have the Hawks as #17. I'm figuring by the time the season is all said and done they'll be top 5. (Hopefully #1 after a NC game and win).

This is basically what I'm expecting. Anything more is gravy, anything less is (a little) disappointing.

My heart says they'll finish better than #9.

My brain tells me that every time Iowa has expectations like this they don't live up to them.

I hope my brain is wrong, but I see a couple losses, maybe a Outback/Cap One bid and a final ranking in the 10-15 range - not too shabby of an outcome in most seasons.

I'm starting to get over the "we flop under high expectations" thing. Ferentz is arguably the best in the country at learning from his mistakes, whether it be halftime adjustments or handling off-field issues. I think we are going to see a team that is not kicking it back. These aren't "fatcats". The team is VERY hungry, and I really do believe that this is a 10+ win season.

Nice point. Somewhat reassuring, because I am currently fearing the high expectations. You put me at ease a bit. Thanks.

I think Iowa will be ranked higher (i.e., closer to 1) than 9.

Another issue would be...if we were to go with undefeated...and B. State and a B12 or SEC team is also undefeated would we make the NC or not.

I afraid we would not.

That would be a complete jobbing if that happened.

Having beaten OSU, Wisconsin, Mich St, Penn State, and @ Arizona.
