Outback v somebody new

What? There are only 5 bowl games played on January 1st. I'll list them for you...

Outback
Citrus
Fiesta
Sugar
Rose

Playing on January 1st is a great thing no matter how you want to slice it. Other than the CFP its the biggest day of the year for college football .

I agree with you. I know January bowl doesn't have the cache it once did, but it still means something. A win in this bowl game will get most of us back to drinking the sweet-tasting oh-so-lethal KOOL-AID

Agree. And ISU STILL won’t make a January bowl!

I don’t think people realize that Outback picked Iowa ahead of two or three other B1G teams, but there always has to be something to bitch about I guess.

Outside of the Rose Bowl, this is an awesome reward for Hawkeye fans...love the Outback Bowl

I went to the Rose Bowl in 2015.
Also, went to the Outback after the 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2016.
Outside the Rose Bowl, the Outback Bowl has the best overall bowl week atmosphere.

I've also been to the Sun, Alamo, Citrus, Orange and Gator Bowl, as well.

No one should be complaining about going to a bowl game on January 1st.
And I mean, no one.
Yes, we should've done better on the field this year.

FCKn "national champ caliber" Bucky....off to NYC. Snicker.
ISUx got a nice pairing/location.

I've heard weather conditions at the 1983 Gator Bowl were miserable.

Temperatures in the 20's, damp and pentetrating, similiar to last year's Pinstripe.

Florida beat us, making the experience even more miserable.

Likewise....I've been to the Outback (3x), Cap-1 (1x) and the Insight bowl. I guess you could count the 2015 B1G game as a bowl game.
3 wins and 4 losses.

All in all fun. Tampa roxx. Orlando suxx. Phoenix...meh.

I think anytime you matchup against an sec team its a chance to show what you're made of, even in a non-bcs bowl game. You're going to be playing on new years, on tv, against an sec team that usually plays bama tough. chance to show some recruits what you're made of. also, since we have a studd receiver from Mississippi right, it could open up some avenues in miss, if the hawks play it right. this game can be an absolute positive for the program. I did however think immediately, man it'd be nice to have noah in this game, against that defense. chance I guess for our senior oline guys to show people what they are made of. This will be more than anything, a manhood game in the trenches.

Miss St has 2 studs on the DL (Simmons & Sweat) but I wonder if they will play in the game or sit out to protect themselves for the Draft?

There you go again...making good sense.

And bowls are popularity contests now. Not how good your team is, but how many brainwashed fans follow the team to the game. We are one of the biggest in this category. Kirk just knows he has to get 3 b10 west wins to go with the 4 annual cupcakes that are lined up and then a game of whackamole ensues in the bowl

Well I sure bet all the players and coaches wanted the Big 10 Champ in 2015 really really bad. I disagree with your assessment that but they all want to win every game they just dont know how to do it or dont have the horses
