Yeah the contacts I've had within the 4a coaching community have shared some pretty disturbing stories about Mangino. The guy you see in front of the camera doing interviews simply isn't the same guy who closes the locker room door and coaches his players. He's got an incredible temper combined with no filter and it gets him into trouble.
When I heard this all went down this morning I have very little doubt the way it went down was probably pretty ugly. Mangino and Rhoads haven't seen eye to eye since the beginning. Plus Mangino is known the be very hard on his players. I can't even remember his name, but that offensive lineman who quit the team last year only to rejoin it a week later actually quit the team because of the way Mangino was harassing the offensive line. The whole team got lambasted after practice. The offensive line was thrown under the bus in front of everyone, and then Mangino asked them to stay after and he laid into them some more. The player stood up and said "**** this I'm done" and walked out.
It's pretty clear that program is a giant steaming pile of dung right now. Ultimately it all falls on CPR. I have no idea how he is still their head coach right now.
Does anyone know if Sam B Richardson is thinking about transferring?
So you get rid of a coordinator who got freaking Kansas to the Orange Bowl as a head coach, freaking Kansas, and you don't think about getting rid of Wally who can't keep teams from scoring 50 pts EVERY game. Geez, work on getting your lines and defense correct. Mangino must have had horrible bedside manner for this to happen. My choice would have been the D coordinator. That place is a train wreck.
Does anybody really believe Mangino is down in the dumps right now? He's probably happy as hell to be out of that hell-hole and down I-35 right now!
And the predictable fat jokes are here........
Mangino isn't fat... he's embarrassing for a guy coaching D1 athletics. Combine that with his charming personality and ability to connect with players and he's top shelf stuff.

Knowing how cheap Pollard is, it was likely a budget-cutting move. Think how much they'll save on training table.
I was talking to some scouts after the Iowa State game and they both agreed that SBR was a better pro prospect than CJB, better arm and scary smart. He could transfer here and really take the Hawks to the next level. What has CJB ever done to earn the starting job anyway?
Seriously doubt SBR even makes it to the next level. QB is a big weakness for Iowa State. Doubt any pro scout ever saw pro potential in him.
