OT: Harrison Barnes: The new Tyler Hansbrough?

I agree with the article in no way does he stay more than a year or two in college, the only reason "psycho T" did was because his pro days wont be as great as his college days.

He really is the "new Tyler Hansbrough"! The second I saw Harrison I was all like, "Dude...he looks just like him!" and what not...

Reading some of the comments, I found this one interesting..."This sounds like a little egomaniac, money oriented player. Should change his name to LeBarnes. Doesn't sound like basketball is his priority which would scare me if I was invested in his basketball game." Anyone at all get the "egomaniac" vibe from Barnes? He's being compared to Psycho T for his work ethic and yet basketball's NOT a priority??? I guess any moron can show the world how stupid they are...in the "Comments" section...

I would be surprised if he comes back to UNC for a second season. His game will translate so well to the NBA, he would have been the top pick this year if high schoolers were still eligible.

I wouldn't go that far. John Wall had ridiculous talent, and with Arenas' troubles, the Wizards needed a guard badly.

But from what I've heard about Barnes, he sounds nothing like a kid who's just about basketball. He's no thug. By all accounts a very nice kid, gets good grades based on smarts (not preferrential treatment), and a hard worker. That doesn't exactly scream John Wall or Derrick Rose, or really any Calipari recruit, to me. That sounds a lot more like Psycho T. I wouldn't be shocked if he DID stay at UNC for 4 years. Won't surprise me if he doesn't, either. He seems like a kid who considers school important enough to maybe stay for 4 years, even though he has NBA-caliber talent right now and a big paycheck waiting for him next spring.

If guaranteed millions are waiting for Barnes next year, no way he turns it down. You can always go back to school as a millionaire, you will not always have talent to earn millions in the NBA!

His college announcement was very similar to what LeBron did recently and I'm guessing that's where the person got that opinion. But, Harrison is a Senior in high school where Lebron has been in the league for several years now. I hope that Barnes realized what he did was not the greatest PR move in the world and that was just a one time thing when the spotlight was shining the most. I'm sure that Roy Williams will pump some humility into him if he didn't.

Barnes seemed to be a good kid that got caught up in the moment, where Lebron has acted this way for a while now.

But really, just how many of those elite players end up back in school? For the guys who don't last long and don't make the big bucks, I'm sure the numbers are a little more favorable. But the top 10 picks are not the guys who end up back in school, almost never.

I watched HB grow as a player on the court over the last 5 years. I do not think he has one percent the ego that LeDouche has. Barnes is humble, and his work ethic is incredible.

Barnes screwed him self with the announcement. It was totally against everything you read about him ego wise. He will be hated on his entire career just bc of how he announced his decision.

Oh for the day when we have to worry about our good players leaving early for the NBA, rather than other colleges.

I hope the kid is lights out. It would be great to see someone from this state live up to that hype.

Virtually zero top 3 rated HS players have played more than one year in college in recent years. Wall was #1 last year. Beasley was #1 the year before with Rose in the top 4,along with Eric Gordon. It will almost be a shocker if Barnes does not come out.
But, UNC is one school where top guys stick an extra year..often two.

Barnes is intelligent. Too intelligent to pass up the guaranteed money in the NBA by staying in school more than 1 year.

Rasheed Wallace did it...so I think HB could probably swing it

Good point Ch...but I'd like to know exactly how much influence ESPN had in how it all went down. ESPN decided to make HB's announcement a "made for tv" moment...LeBron and his camp are the ones who decided to turn theirs into a circus.
