I don't believe he was an actual McDonald's AA. He was a "nominee," and there are many, many more "nominees" than McD AA's. We've had some "nominees" in Iowa who no one thought were high major players to begin with. If I'm not mistaken, even Wisconsin's next signee, what's-his-name, was a McD AA "nominee" in Illinois. There were 30 nominees from New Jersey this year alone, and only 25 actual McD A-A's nationally. You get the idea.
In short, this guy probably wasn't consdered a "can't miss prospect" to begin with...and apparently, he missed!
