OT: Dan Bernstein

I mean coaches who'd rather play a veteran instead of a rookie isn't a new thing. It's not like the Bears are championship contenders one way or the other. Fields is the not so far out future of the team. If coach thinks he's not quite ready then it's probably in his favor to do what he is. Granted I don't think playing him would necessarily be wrong either. But since they have the option I get why he's Nagy is starting Dalton instead for now.

The situation in SF is similar except they had realistic championship aspirations coming into the year. Now that they've lost a couple times I don't know how realistic that is anymore but they clearly want to stick with JG for awhile yet too. Game is just too fast for rookies usually. Lance is pretty inexperienced with just overall game reps since he didn't even play last yr really. Fields played a lot the last couple yrs and is more polished I would say that.

So as far as this guy blowing a gasket over it that says more about him then it does Nagy. I mean dude take a chil pill and don't bet as much on the games. You'll sleep better at night.

Bernstein must be doing something right if we are discussing this on a Hawkeye forum.
I must be doing something right if one of my threads made it to a econd page. I suck at starting threads. Big time.

Bernstein, like I said, is well respected, knowledgeable, an excellent interviewer, and is not afraid to weigh in on sensitive or controversial subjects. He is not an over the top blowhole like Steven A Smith or Skip Bayless, or Colin Cowherd. So he has to realize how stupid he sounds to infer that a coach would intentionally throw a young QB to the wolves just because said coach may want to go with the veteran for a while. But Dan is dug in on his stance. And if anything feels stronger about it now then he did nine days ago.

Nagy's stubbornness and arrogance seem to have gotten under Bernstein's skin. That's the point I was trying to make, not necessarily who the starter should be.

I know who Bernstein is, I used to listen to The Score all the time. He‘s went off before and it makes good radio. Howard Stern has turned himself into a millionaire playing the roll of a shock jock.
