OT Cubs basically equal Iowa St football

now I hate all things baseball, and I detest the cubs but I don't see ISU football and the cubs are even comparable besides the length of time between their last titles. The cubs actually pull a good season out of their arses now and then (and find something ridiculous to blame it one when they choke) but for ISU football, they'd sacrifice their first born inbred child to satan if it meant a 10 win season.

Anyone holding their breath on ANY team winning the World Series is a moron. How many people thought the Nationals were going to roll over everyone this year, only to see them miss the playoffs? The Dodgers were the 2014 Opening Day favorites and got knocked out of the NLDS in 4. The Nationals were the favorite before 2013 and missed the playoffs. It's baseball, crazy **** happens during the season and in the playoffs.

Not to mention all the talking heads wanted to anoint the Cardinals as champs about 2/3 of the way through the season and they were also bounced from the NLDS in 4.

To be fair there, the Molina and Martinez injuries down the stretch were huge.

Yet this season was NOTHING like an ISU football season, save for the lack of a championship. And contrary to simplicity, if you aren't first, that doesn't mean you're last.

Whatever. You're a typical Hawk fan wearing rose colored glasses thinking you're special 'cause your team in 7-0. Well, in case you missed it, Iowa State is 7-0 too

in the last 3 seasons if you don't count the 23 games they've lost. ;)

Let's not forget the Cards' Cy Young nominee, Wainwright, was out all year. Huge to have a 3rd strong pitching horse in the playoffs, especially in a 5 game series.

The Cards were as healthy or healthier than they had been all year for the NLDS. They did have Wainwright back, they had Holiday, Yadier was available, but limited. Plus other players more than filled the void all year long. They won 100 games in the toughest division in baseball with the team that was in the NLDS....heck with a healthier team than they had 95% of the year.

The injury to Martinez very well could have. The Cardinals could have easily held a 2-0 lead if Martinez could have pitched Game 2.

It's possible but not likely. The Cardinals only scored 3 runs the entire game. Doubt Martinez could have held the Cubs below that. He was good but not that good.
