Their WRs had really good size and speed, seemed they had hands as well. Their QB really had some nice passes when we played them. They only had about 70 yards rushing but they were moving at times.

Kinnick noise definitely helped that one out. I remember being at that one, first game post-COVID mess and everyone had a lot of pent up yelling in them.

I'll toss in the 2010 Hawkeyes as another fizzle example.
Everybody back after their Orange Bowl win and we way way underformed on the way to an 8-5 record.

Good offense. Horrible defense. That is part of the reason Oregon was able to put up 56 on them. They can't stop anybody.

I would really really like for Iowa to win this game.
I will dislike Oregon forever. Because my very first game, my first ever in person college football game experience ever....

It was not pretty. That season was not terribly pretty.
But it was mostly uphill from there at least.
