On the Side Pressers are no more

I can't imagine this has anything do with not wanting to put Kirk in the position to be asked further questions about an ongoing investigation of a nature in which he has no knowledge or can provide any meaningful insight.

Doesn't make the move any less stupid. If a reporter wants to ask that question, now he/she will be forced to ask it while the real TV cameras are on.

Like seemingly most university solutions, it doesn't solve a damn thing. Just a bunch of hot air.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
Did the reporter not shoot the video from the side and at a lower angle (suggesting that the camera was being carried on his hip-as though he's going to put it away)? Did the duscussion involving KF not happen after the on the side segment was ending, and other reporters were wrapping up their gear to head out/interview others? Was KF talking with the reporter about asking the question and doing so in a proper manner? Kind of a shady thing to do.
I'm just saying the reporter lacked to show a professional courtesy by recording/showing the tape. And for what!? Because KF said a sweat? Fudge that sheet, bro!? Who doesn't say a lil naughty every now and again?
In summation, I can see why there won't be an on the side segment anymore.

Did the whole thing not happen openly in the press room?

Just want others to see what you posted that made me go over the edge. You think I have gone over the cliff? I am fine with that.

I just don't understand the outrage over this. Keith Murphy said many times over the last week that the "on the side" segment of the press conference was outdated and no longer needed.

What is the point of having two press conferences back to back? Just ask what you need to ask during the actual press conference.

I thought there was a lot of value for a reporter. Murphy might not see it, as he's a TV guy and OTS isn't allowed to be filmed. But it means Ferentz is talking to the media for more time, which means more questions get asked (he's often at least 5 minutes late, sometimes more, too). It can be hard to get your question in during the regular presser, especially when the TV people waste time asking the cliche questions all the time. I get that they need a particular sound bite, but it's a waste of time for the print people

So what did they say was the reason for discontinuing? Sure we know the reason (kf ******) but how did/will they spin it to press? You know kf will be asked why no more on the sides at the next presser.he may go ape ****

Roe didn't tell us about the cancellation. We just heard about it from the other media members who were told. Didn't sound like a reason was given, although we all know what it was.

There "isn't time for print" because Ferentz doesn't WANT there to be time.

"On the side" pressers really aren't common. It really isn't SOP at any other places that I have heard of. Most places, the main presser is the main presser. You want an on the side, you ask for an appointment.

So there isn't an on the side anymore. He can just sit at the podium an extra 5 or 10 minutes.

If Ferentz comes 5 or 10 minutes late and leaves 5 or 10 minutes early, that's by his design. If he won't allow a reporter a few minutes for some story or sensitive question that for some reason everyone thinks shouldn't be asked in front of a camera (which is a total BS copout by the way) that again is by his design, not because there isn't time.

I think none of the reporters should ask a question. It's not like we learn anything from these anyway.

Kirk:

"First of all, want to say I think we have the best fans in the world. Thanks to those fans who traveled to Michigan to watch us. They were with us the whole time and that's great. Obviously, we would have liked to have given them a little more to cheer about, but Michigan had a little something to say about that. Just a fantastic team. Really executed in all phases.

On to this week. Obviously we have our work cut out for us. Nebraska's a really good team. A really good team. Executes well in all phases. Should be exciting with our new rivals to the west coming to Kinnick for the first time as conference members.

Captains will be the same. Starters will be the same. First 15 scripted plays will be the same.

We'll open it up for questions at this time."

Crickets.
