Olympic Club - unforgiving.

Could not agree more Scorpio. That guy sucks balls at everything he does. The main reason I never watch the home run derby.

His stupid quips weren't funny 15 years ago, and they sure as he!! ain't funny now. And his idiotic fake gravel-voice. WTF. Fat bastard.

OH funny stuff, yeah berman acts like he is doing his sportscenter schtick from 25 years ago.

I am just waiting for him to say "back back back back back" when someone tees off.

Dan Patrick today said berman could maybe be there to do some intros but not the main announcing.

Oh yeah, and leave it to espn to have about 45 announcers, berman, van pelt who I like, curtis strange who should be one of the only booth announcers, terry gannon on occasiion who is ok, old gray haired mustache guy from nbc,

I think andy north also besides rolfing, and a couple of others.

totally agree, '82
berman and tirico are totally unnecessary

too many cooks spoil the dish...especially when some of the cooks are tools

Yeah, I forgot tirico was there and I didnt mention azinger but the zinger is good and a former major winner.

Curtis Strange really told it to somebody who questioned that big runoff area that tiger went down off the back of the 17th green.

Strange just said "All the players know it is there and they are hitting irons for a 2nd shot into a par 5" I agree with Strange, you have to have the distance control to win this tourney.

I hadn't picked up a golf club in over a year until I stepped onto the range before Wednesday's round. The round was with a big customer of mine, so it was designed to be fun (we went through more than a case of miller lite during the 18) and it really was. Lotsa laffs. :)

First off bud, with those kind of scores what's the (we) went through a box. If you suck that bad,it took you at least 5 hours to golf. If your going to embarrass yourself on the course like that, at least finish a box on your own.

Former pro from CRCC is, or was at Olympic Club. To the poster that commented about PM missing the fairway with a three wood, have you seen how narrow they made the fairways on shorter driving holes? TV is deceiving, but some landing areas do not look 20 yards wide to me.

The USGA has always had an infatuation with no better than par at this event, which is their event. Some players hate it. I think this is the event JD broke down and cried at. Also, several players throughout the years have criticized the USGA about the course set up at the Open.

Yeah, the math don't add up. 1.5 beers over 5 hours? What's the point?

Thats not McCann is it? He was the pro there when I worked there 10 or so years ago. Heck of a nice guy.

I don't think McCann. But it is true, the former dhead pro @ CRCC went to Olympic Club. Quite a while ago. I'll google it later if I have some time.

Oh Golfer, I wasnt dogging Phil, my post was to show what kind of two days Phil had, as in even when he took a more lofted club off the tee he still found the heavy rough.

I wonder if any of these guys have a 1 iron in the bag, I bet phil and tiger can lace a 1 iron.

And I dont care if some players are mad about the course, they all have to play the same course and low score wins.

The course set ups certainly are tougher for the pros, especially the Open. No doubt about it. I played one of the courses at Geneva National the week after a LPGA event. I'm guessing a regular tour event for the ladies, and the USGA set up for the Open aren't that comparable, but yet, still way too tough for me from anything except the mid to front tees.

Years ago, they talked about setting up Amana for an Open qualifier. I saw where they had planned to grow the rough up to the fairways. It's narrow, right in the landing areas.

If you are a scratch golfer, the difference between you and a pro is still huge. I don't think they let people in the qualifers unless they are a +3.

The pga tour has plenty of wide open courses where the winning score is -15 in good weather. The usga open courses are more like the very old courses especially like you see in Scotland with dry narrow fairways and high grass off the fairway.

yeh, I guess I don't put 'em away like I used to

In humid 90 degree conditions, and with a highly valued (and valuable) customer, it simply isn't professional or strategic to act like a bumpkin from Grimes, Iowa and get sh!tfaced on the championship course at your boss's club.

Let's say that Tiger pulls this off over the weekend...where does that put him rank wise?
