I like Gabe. I could see him developing into a solid center. His problem is that no matter how much he develops, Woodbury will be playing in front of him. Depending on how much he improves, Gabe has an outside chance to start at PF when he's a senior and Basabe is gone, and that's only if White plays the wing. Barring injuries and transfers, that's really the only realistic scenario I see in which Gabe ever becomes a starter.

Would not be so quick to dismiss Gabe. Right now Adam is the better player, and I think he can get better. However, Gabe's athleticism and quickness give him a greater potential upside than Adam. What Adam lacks right now -- strength and quickness -- can't be taught and will improve only incrementally. Gabe can be taught to be a more dominating presence on both ends of the floor, how to distribute the ball, how to be part of an overall 5-player scheme. Would not surprise me by the start of next year for Gabe to be challenging Adam for the starting position at the 5.

Gabe demonstrates it in practice. He's now showing flashes of it in "garbage" time or minutes where there is not as much pressure to perform. A natural progression would be for him to start getting more meaningful minutes and being reasonably productive during those minutes. Will it happen this year? Maybe. Nobody knows. Will it happen by his Senior Year? I believe it will. Let's face it. He's a project. However, given his athleticism, Fran would be a complete fool to simply give up on him. Imagine what you'd have if Woodbury was the athlete Gabe was? Fran wont given up on Gabe as long as he keeps playing like he does behind closed doors. 6'10" extremely athletic guys dont exactly grow on trees.

In terms of size, athletic ability, and defensive ability hes as good as any center in the B10. Again he is the perfect player for Woody to go against in practice and I'm very glad hes on the team. I think he has a chance to be very productive for this team.

He is not as good defensively as any center in the BoneG Duffmod.

Link to Gabe's performance in practice?

I very much doubt that Fran is giving up on Gabe. Does Fran know you are watching practice when you are supposed to be sweeping up at Carver? If you keep giving up your valuable inside info he is eventually going to figure out who the leak is.

Sweeping up? Not quite sioux34.

Good point Ghost. If you wanna suggest that every 6'10" athletic kid turns out to be as productive (or lack thereof) as Archie was, then I can't argue that, but it's not very reasonable. My humble opinion is that is not the case with Gabe. You have your opinion. I've got mine. Simple as that.

I hereby declare you: The Anti-Ghost. You suck the fun out of any situation. You take an awesome thread and make it horrible. You see something amusing, and you blow it up. You're the worst. You're like a black hole of suck. Your like a turd sandwich that has somehow spoiled. You are the human version of a kick to the nuts.

I just think it's great how GhostofBTT understands the way people feel about him. In reality.

Likewise, you need look no further than our own Brad Lohaus, Les Jepson, JR Koch and Erek Hansen for examples of centers who started as scrubs and ended up with post-senior season honors.

I approve, notwithstanding the misspelling of my last name.

I simply like Gabe's progress. His footwork is much better. He is quick and can block shots very well. And if he is in position and set, he can score. He will help, even more with added experience......

He is a bonus.....
