Ok what's wrong with this kid?

87 catches for 1600 yards and 18 TDs in Texas football and we beat out UTEP and Colorado State. So what is wrong with him? 6-4 190 lbs. Could it be McNutt part II? And if you didnt know I'm talking about Jacob Hillyer.

He lacks speed, Mac...definitely a possession receiver...I don't know his 40 time, just going by what scout's player page says about him.

Even if he's only a 4.6 guy, we can help his speed a little, and he sounds like a good possession receiver.

I don't know anything about this guy, but 40 times are the most over rated stats ever. If you timed some of the best recievers in the NFL they would not be worthy of being recruited in some of your minds. :)

He plays mid-level TX ball, which hurts. I think being from the FB rich states hurts some kids because they get overlooked too easily, where in Iowa at Indianola for example he would stand out. Numbers hurt some kids. Take Rudock, he MAY be hurt because of the talent around him because that talent may have been better known before he was. While this staff DOES make mistakes I'll always trust their judgement.

Senior year only really good year. Can some of you guys that a little more internet savvy find out who played in front of him last year and where they went ?

You guys do realize that only a handfull of receivers in the NFL run under 4.5 in the 40 right?

Schools like Texas A&M and Texas were just beginning to take notice of this kid. The talent level in Texas is simply amazing and he was being overlooked until recently. If he lived in Iowa, he would be one of the top recruits in the state. He's going to be good.

But I still don't get it. Why not ANY Big 12 school offers? No K-State or Baylor/Kansas either.

He couldn't have been overlokked by everyone, could he? Maybe he was, but it just seems odd to me.

Yes he could be overlooked by everyone. Michael Crabtree was overlooked he didnt get noticed until after he had been committed to TTU. Iowa was actually the first team to offer Crabtree. I think this will be a good pickup if he stays clean and puts in the effort.

I haven't been able to find video highlights of Hillyer himself but I did find this highlight video of his high school quarterback. In the video he is #18 on the team that always has the ball. I also noticed this is part 4 of the highlight film so I'm guessing he's seen in the other videos too. Another note, the QB: Stevie Dormans currently has no offers (as of Rivals) but is interested in the Hawks and he looks to be decent.

Same thing that was wrong with Sanders - message board posters don't know as much as our Head Coach
