Ok w Parker, but Erb needs to go

Wow. That is a very strong response. Is it really that important to you? All I said is that Erb has the easiest area for Iowa to recruit, which is true. It is right next to Iowa and there is a large population there. No other Iowa recruiter has the same advantages with respect to region.

That is what I "know." Do you have a valid argument that refutes that point?

As far as the Texas and Florida thing is considered. Do you see Iowa hiring a coach with good ties in either of those areas? If so, who might that be?

You are an idiot. And an idiot with a mouth at that. Why do you continue to post about stuff you know jack **** about?

1st, recruiting is all about relationships. Erb has GREAT relationships with guys in the midwest and it is showing. So why would he go to Texas? Florida? You don't just go down there and start building relationships right away. Iowa has four 4 star recruits....all Erb's guys.

For idiots like you saying he needs to be fired because of all the running backs leaving.....he doesn't recruit RB's!!! He recruits a region!

Coker, Wegher, ARob,....all guys not recruited by Erb and yet people ***** about the RB's leaving like it's his fault.

Not sure I follow your last sentence. Wouldn't Erb be the coach spending the most time with RB's once they arrive on campus? Not saying he is the reason any of them left the team but he certainly should have a significant influence over RB's once they arrive on campus.

He has Illinois as a territory. That is about the only area where Iowa gets a steady stream of strong recruits. But, it is BY FAR the easiest area for Iowa to recruit. So, it is a little questionable to call him Iowa's best recruiter.

If he is so good, why don't they put him in any area like Texas or Florida where he stellar recruiting abilities could really be used?

how many schools recruit chicago? you think that area is easy, huh?

a school like Iowa who is not on par with a OSU or Alabama, will not get top ranked kids to stay where they cannot play because of a better player, unlike the schools i listed, the highly reguarded kid comes to Iowa come in with a sense of entitlement, they know there is little to no top tier talent on the squad so they feel they should get the majority of the playing time, unlike at OSU or Alabama they like to be on a name school and will wait their turn, sad to say that there can be multiple 4-5* talent sitting on the bench some where, but at Iowa they don't feel like they have to sit behind 2 & 3* talent, as the last 3 years recruiting classes have improved by getting less 2* talent and more 3 & 4* talent this attitude by the players will disappear
awhile back i showed how Iowa was avg 11 2* recruits per class, the last 2 had 5 2* recruits and as of yet they only have 3 2* recruits with one being a kicker, we also have 4 4* recruit on rivals and 5 4* recruits on ESPN,with 11 3* recruits, its not much but it is a beginning
also the WR are improving, rather than getting players that have to be switched to the WR position, all three that we have recruited are true WR's at 6'2 4.4 40, with them being high 3* stars

Well, now I know why interpreting the Dead Sea Scrolls is such a time-consuming effort

Clearly not. Soup needs to go. Along with whoever coached DBs when Everson did his thing.

The program is out of control. The game has passed Kirk by. Greece is defaulting and a comet just passed through the Sun unscathed. Cling fast to your guns and religion boys, and join me and the wimminfolk in my End-Times Cabin (tm).

I think it was on channel 13 one time I saw this interview that an international reporter did with this guy in Greece, just a man on the street type thing. He asked him about the financial woes in Greece and he was like "We're so screwed up, we got nothing anybody would want, what do we have but like some Olive oil, a lil cheese, and a couple beaches." I died laughing it was so funny.

As a complete side note, Larry Coyer even looks like Norm Parker kinda, definitely Larry Coyer.

Yes, there is a steady stream of talent coming out of Illinois, but there a lot of schools fishing in that stream. Erb is beating out big time schools on these recruits.

HAHAHA That was a great response. I almost choked on my Mt. Dew. Seriously herby, if you're gonna write something that long do us all a favor and consider paragraphs. That was atrocious. In particular, I love how you throw commas all over the place and then forget to capitalize the first letter of a sentence. I know 10 year olds that can write more legible than that.

what is so hard to understand about my post, i stated part of the problem with retaining recruit starts with getting the kids with a sense of entitlement

well were not saying neccesarily thethe content isa problem but when there is no punctuation or its in the wrong place and, the sentences they run on and on and so it makes it very hard to pull the meaning out without squinting, really hard at the screen and having, to reread closely since nothing breaks it up visually really you may have a good point about recruitng and entitlement and also about 11 2* recruits per class, the last 2 had 5 2* recruits and as of yet they only have 3 2* recruits with one being a kicker, being harder or easier to develop or, you maybe off base i'm not sure but when its thsi hard to read nobody is going to take the time and so whether your a genius or a knucklehead its sort of irrelevant since maybe 3 people will bother suffering through the whole mess to find out

(edited for clarity)

who all has erb brought in as a recruiter? i would say if his recruits are the ones screwing up than it is a trend that needs to be stopped. if they are brought in by a different recruiter and just happen to be at his position that would be a coincidence.

if they are his recruits then i would say he isnt the best recruiter he is a talent getter. a good recruiter knows which kids are trouble if they backgtound check. i went to school in nw iowa and played against heelan. friends i have that are still in the area told me about wegher and that he would be lucky to make it through 1 yr at iowa. a recruiter should know these things.

my thought it is more about who recruited the kid than the position coach otherwise you think the position coach is basically a babysitter.

I for one can't stand the grammar police but that was awesome!

this is what I was thinking. it doesn't matter who recruits them as much as who spends time with them once they are here. you're right that Erb might not be the reason why they left but he should be a reason they want to stay.

it matters a great deal who recruits them. because that guy should know if the kid is trouble or not. they have to do their homework on the kid then the staff (primarily hc) will decide if they are worth the risk. my thought is figure out if there is a pattern to who recruited the kid.
