Oglesby out indefinitely...

Sucks for Josh. Wish him a speedy recovery.

I agree with others. Gives others a chance to step up and get meaningful minutes early in the season

JO's injury definitely gives more minutes to Jok. And that may be a good thing for him and for the team come B1G season-time. JO is supposed to be back in December and with the extra experience Jok will get, we could oddly be more ready for the B1G schedule than if JO hadn't gotten hurt. It does put extra pressure on shooters like Jok and Gesell now, especially for the Atlantis tourney.

Does anyone know what the full extent of his injury is and has the team released an expected timetable for his return?

On the positive, no need to test how Fran can make an 11 man rotation work.

Could end up being a negative when Josh returns. I wanted Fran to figure out the 11 man rotation while we feasted on cupcakes early in the season. I'd rather not have him try to figure out while playing our rather brutal B1G schedule.

Guys, JO went a blistering 1-5 in the exhibition game, without his stellar 3 point shooting Iowa likely finishes in the bottom 3 of the B10. Fact, can't be disputed.

Some wanna be funny with this.

Oglesby had a rough shooting year last year, but good shooters aren't immune to something like that. JO's freshman year was a higher percentage than two of Brody Boyd's seasons and nearly identical for a third. Jeff Horner shot just about the same from three one year as Oglesby did last year.

He's a good shooter. A lot of teams felt that way and it wasn't a fluke...he had an offer from Illinois, Tubby at MN, ASU, Boston College and others.

JO's a decent role player, I'd rather him be healthy and playing, but he's got two years worth of B10 conference games where he's shooting sub 30% from 3. At some point, you have to admit he's just not that good of shooter.

hope is heels up in about 2 years and gets his degree

not a fan - plays terrible D and poor at his specialty (making 3's in games) worst % ever for a specialist

glad to have more playing time for Jok, Gessell and Cleamons

JO has a rep for being a great shooter at practice, and a poor shooter in games. This looks like a great opportunity for Jok to get some much needed game minutes.

JO does not play terrible D. He is a much better defender than Jok at this point. Like Jon said, he shot well as a frosh and had a bad year like others have had in the past.

Well, that whole transfer thing was much ado about nothing, apparently. ;)

Are you reading Jon's comment, "I don't see Uthoff playing 2 minutes" as meaning 120 seconds? That's how I read it at first, too, and couldn't believe how wrong he was. I'm hoping (and assuming) he meant "minutes at the 2".

Good grief. Yes, minutes at the two.

Anybody that says Oglesby plays terrible D is just following the ball when watching games. We can knock his shoot all day, I am not a big fan of his fade away, but his defense is solid and he does not make many mistakes when he is on the court.

You must be a relative. He's not a B10 talent, period. What B10 team would a 6'3" kid that can't shoot or handle the ball, can't man up on anybody see time with?
Bottom line: the only reason he sees the floor is the hope that he would get hot from the line- unfortunately this 3 point specialist shot 26% for the season with very few good moments.
I love the team too, but am not blinded by it. Looking forward to seeing more skilled and physically talented players getting more minutes.
