They scored a junk TD. Allowing 2 FGs and junk TD is not really getting punched in the mouth.Getting punched in the mouth by one of the worst offenses in the country.
Solid analysis, other than this. Tons of balls hitting hands and not getting caught, which is a death sentence with the lack of separation.I think there were no drops, a long time since we saw that on offense.
Thanks. I'm think of drops as more Bruce IV-hit 'em in the hands kind of drops.Solid analysis, other than this. Tons of balls hitting hands and not getting caught, which is a death sentence with the lack of separation.
They were moving the ball at will when I posted that, but I like how you make it sound like I posted it after the entire game. They scored a junk TD. Allowing 2 FGs and junk TD is not really getting punched in the mouth.
USU will not be among the bottom offenses in the country this season.
Can't blame him. He's getting paid, and he gets to play in a functional unit. Not to bring up the past but a lot of talk about the O-line and kind of poor performance yet again today. Watching the Bama game and focusing on Proctor… what a difference he could have made. $$$ talks I guess
Just turned on the game--you aren't kidding. Just witnessed the Bama OL drive the entire MTSU DL back ten yards on first down, with multiple pancakes. I get that we aren't Bama, but you'd think Iowa of all places could manage a passable OL.Not to bring up the past but a lot of talk about the O-line and kind of poor performance yet again today. How much more "functional" do you think this line would be with Proctor? That's what Alabama's money does for it, and we cannot compete with that money. No Iowa coach is ever again going to sign guys like that, unless NIL becomes equally limited by school. Can't blame him. He's getting paid, and he gets to play in a functional unit.

When we settled for a field goal near the end of the first half, we had two drops, both of which would have been TD’s.Solid analysis, other than this. Tons of balls hitting hands and not getting caught, which is a death sentence with the lack of separation.
Got the ball at the 46 with around 4 minutes to go. 12 plays / 44 yds / fortuitous penalties later we kicked the field goal. When we settled for a field goal near the end of the first half, we had two drops, both of which would have been TD’s.
You cannot have it both ways. If the dropped balls were on plays that would have been touchdowns then they were perfectly called plays that should have been touchdowns.Got the ball at the 46 with around 4 minutes to go. 12 plays / 44 yds / fortuitous penalties later we kicked the field goal.
Ineptitude in every aspect - play calling & execution
The problem can be (and is) both poor execution and questionable play calling. You cannot have it both ways. If the dropped balls were on plays that would have been touchdowns then they were perfectly called plays that should have been touchdowns.
Couldn't help but notice he was starting at LT snap one for Bama... That's pretty wild for a true freshman. My guess is he was all but promised that at Bama along with $$. He and his family tried saying that NIL wasn't a factor and Bama wasn't blowing his doors off in that regard but I don't buy that either. How much more "functional" do you think this line would be with Proctor? Oh, I thought you were talking about just those2 plays. The problem can be (and is) both poor execution and questionable play calling.
Sometimes it is execution - dropped balls, missed blocks, personnel mismatches, etc.
Sometimes it is play calling - running into stacked box with safeties crashing because everyone in the stadium knows the play, slow developing plays on 4th & 1, schematic mismatches, etc.
Every team has these issues. The good ones have less than the bad ones.
Iowa has too many of both.
