***OFFICIAL I don't follow MLB thread***

Great thread, baseball is lame. Went to Dodgers game last year for the hell of it because my girl is from LA. Boring in person as much as on tv, only difference cheaper beer at home and Dodger dogs were average hotdogs at best. Stadium full of gangbangers because of the logo on their hat represents their gang, woulda rather paid to watch WNBA game... Well maybe not
 
If baseball was played in the cold, nobody would go. Football can get 100K people in the stands when it is 20 and snowing. Baseball gets people drinking beer and working on their tan.
 
Oh my God are you serious!!! You really think baseball is just throwing and hitting a ball. Geez, It would be like me saying football is just a bunch of guys running and tackling each other. You guys need to actually know something about the sport before you start saying its lame and it sucks.

I appreciate baseball for all of the nuance, but it is still pretty lame.

I understand baseball; that's why It blows my mind people actually enjoy it (similar to NASCAR). Baseball is The worst and most boring sport out there, way below soccer/golf/tennis.

That's pretty much all there is to football. It's not rocket science -- run the ball, throw the ball, stop the other guy from doing same.
 
Obviously personal opinion.. But One big reason would be that's it a non contact, team sport. Another is that the most exciting play in the sport (home run) is the exact same as a million fly outs, just a few feet farther. Another would be, while baseball players are undoubtedly great athletes, they are no where near the level of football, basketball, hockey, wrestling, etc. in terms of athletic ability. Finally, the complexity/strategy of the game, IMO, just doesnt compare to football/basketball.

All just my opinion, but these threads always have people like me saying these things.. I'd like to hear why people think it IS a great sport.

Athletic ability is tough to calculate. Are most faster or stronger? No, I wouldn't say so. Some are very fast - some are very strong. But they have hand-eye coordination that are second to none. The only contact sport that is comparable is hockey in that aspect.

Complexity/strategy is easily just as important in baseball as in other sports, just in other ways. Hell, most of the time in the NBA you just give it to one person and let them do whatever. Not that complex.

It's the speed of the game that people don't like. Complexity, athletic ability...those have nothing to do with it. Justin Verlander could throw you 100 pitches and you might touch 2 of them.
 
Idk when you have obese middle age men who couldnt run a 40 .....I think you can say they are a bit out of shape.
