NOVA NATIONAL CHAMPS!

And you think Nova continues to shoot 60% or whatever ridiculous clip they were shooting at for the tourney?

Kansas was the number 1 overall seed. Nova made 4 out of 18 (22.2%) from three and sent them home. Nova can beat teams in a lot of ways. Carolina out rebounded them by 13 last night and it made no difference. Any argument you make as to why Carolina (the losing team) would beat Nova (the winning team) I can counter with just as strong an argument. The fact of the matter is this is college basketball and they play each other once. And Nova won.

Carolina beat - 16 seed - 9 seed - 5 seed - 6 seed - 10 seed then 2 seed = Loss

Nova beat - 15 seed - 7 seed - 3 seed - 1 seed - 2 seed - 1 seed

Only the 1 seeds even made Nova break a sweat.

Edit - Nova beat 3 of the current top 7 ranked Kenpom teams to win the championship. Carolina beat no one ranked higher than 15.

good stuff right there - nova beats North Carolina in any series and has proven to be the best team in the tournament based on their tournament record - who they have beaten and how so.

I do yes. Not that it's really relevant but yeah Nova had been destroying good teams down the stretch and I wouldn't say Nova would sweep them in 7 games but I do think they'd win. They play as a team and have absolutely no let up in them. UNC showed at times when they too happy shooting 3s in games that they can struggle. They happened to shoot pretty well in the 2nd half from deep which kept them/got them back in the game when they were down 10 with like 4 or 5 mins to go. But when UNC got cold like they did against UNI and some of their other loses it really showed and I think Nova would only go after that more. What weaknesses does Nova have that UNC could exploit?

Depends upon how the game is called. Nova played "hands on" defense the entire game - lots of no-calls. Do you remember Paige going in for a layup and getting the shot off while being decked by Ochefu and.... no call? The announcers stuttered a bit and then said, "Well he had his hands straight up", but he was not set, was inside the retaining arc and was jumping AT Paige and hit him with his chest. I also thought the refs were very interesting in their interpretation of traveling... or rather what was not traveling. I thought Arcidiacono should have fouled out in the first half the way he was clobbering players - he looked like a reincarnation of a more physical Aaron Kraft. Add that to the fact that the UNC players were called for a lot of ticky-tack fouls, including one where even the announcers looking at the slow-mo replay were wondering where the contact was, and you get a Nova win.

You get a different set of refs for each game in a 7 game series and Nova goes down because the physical aspect of their "defense". In a single game where they allow physical play and allow a whole lot of travelling and where Nova shoots out of it's head, you get a Nova win.

Adding cake as a bonus was having that creepy Vitale on Sportscenter picking NC over Nova, beause there are only two teams in his world, the Dukies and NC. He thougtht he was nifty by stalling & saying Villanova 74, .............and North Carolina 77.

Ehhh, that's like people who take away from Golden St. championship because they didn't play the Spurs or the Clippers. You can't control who you play. Carolina makes those put backs, those shots inside the paint like they normally do and we are not even having this discussion. Meeks wouldn't go 1 for 8 from the floor again. However, you are right this is college basketball it is a one game scenario and Nova won.

Roy Williams has proven over the last three decades to be a not very good game coach. With the talent he has had at Kansas and North Carolina he should have more than two championships. But this year he definitely lost to a better team.

Just quit with the sour grapes " the refs took it away from them".

Someone lost money on last nights game..

Yep, if only Iowa could recruit players like Paige. If only, if only.

Then there's reality, and it's depressing.

Oh we get some decent talent, but I look at the two teams playing last night, and I'm like "Oh, yeah.. Iowa has a basketball program, too". It's a night and day difference.

Everything you said is true, but it also applies to all but about 8-12 teams in the country.
