Not A Good Look for Bob Stoops, OU

The OU player punched some female. He's going pro next year, hope the NFL comes down on the douche along with our court system! Throw the bastard in jail. Typical black thug, I'm sure the Black Lives Matter losers will come to his defense. Bet he claims that he's innocent because he was just expressing his feelings as an American, and that it's his given right to do so.

Talk about so much negative news in college football right now. The Wake scandal, the Minnesota debacle and now this OU football player assaulting a female.

ESPN said he was suspended for the year and did 100 hrs. Of community service.Sounds like that's fair punishment.Don't know but in video she looks like she's been drinking and she pushed and hit him first, before you stomp on me I don't condone hitting a woman for any reason,he should of walked away.If he's been a good student athlete since then, why is this news.

This does shine a negative light on Stoops. The young man in question needs a beat down. In the old days the woman's brother/boyfriend/father would've provided the frontier justice. The young woman doesn't come off well either. She looks like she decided to be aggressive without first contemplating the consequences. I've known too many men and women who like to start shit and then can't handle what comes next.

as a man, you don't punch women in the face, especially with a closed fist and full forced. If a woman pushes you like she did, you just ignore it and walk away. It's not that hard.

So, if Mixon (6-1, 230) clocked your mother, wife or daughter like that you'd be fine with a suspension (during which he used his redshirt, BTW) and 100 hours of community service? You wouldn't want him removed from the team?

NO. But if they hit him first... it's a different equation.

So you're ok with him punching her in the face in this case? And if that was you're mother, wife or daughter in her place doing what she did, you'd be ok with the punishment?

You're certainly welcome to that opinion. I strongly disagree with that opinion, however.

You're usually a pretty level headed guy Rob. Where do you read that in my post? (let me help you out...it's not there. The capitallzed "NO" at the beginning would be your first clue. NO as in I wouldn't be OK with it. Perhaps it's in the phrasing of the statements. You have back to back questions...one a "yes" one a "no" of the same concept. The first is an obvious "NO". That's what I was responding to)

Hence I said he gets a beat down . . . learn to to read you dumb ****er. But in all honesty, tell me the wisdom of a weaker creature pushing someone? Do you push cops Estron? No, you don't. Cuz ya know the rules. So the video is a lesson for every one who likes to push someone and them expects them to walk away. And for those who say it's easy to walk away . . . guess what's even easier than walking away?? NOT STARTING SHIT WITH A THUG. I don't like the guy in the video, but he didn't walk over and punch her out of the blue. I have a feeling what came out of her mouth prior to a punch probably wasn't well considered either.

I'll sum this up for the board. THERE ARE NO WINNERS IN THIS SITUATION. The coaches; the thug; the entitled female. Not one winner in this scenario.

"If they hit him first it's a different equation."

Perhaps I misunderstood this comment. Please explain.

How about we train females to behave like the dainty, angelic; innocent, weak creatures we portray them as when they get punched. Not endorsing the thug approach. But females in American society also need some self-improvement.

I'm sorry but if women want equal rights, then equal responsibilities come with that. Ya think Rob Howe is gonna shove Josh Brown and then tell Josh Brown to just walk away? As I've already stated, best approach is if both parties don't engage in unwanted touching.

No, it's not OK. Yes, I'd want him suspended. (the syntax of your back-to-back YES/NO questions confused my response)

What I mean by the "if she hit him first" is this. Unprovoked male violence against women is abhorrent and unacceptable. It sickens me. I'm fortunate enough to have grown up with good role models, and a healthy respect for women. I have a daughter and I've taught her that there is no excuse for mistreatment by a man and she should walk away the second she has a sense a guy may be prone to that.

But IF a woman becomes physical and attacks a man aggressively in a way that can harm him, she forfeits a certain degree of that assumed protection She has initiated and validated a physical response. (and sometimes we see that in certain "cultural" situations). One's right to be free of violence doesn't include free reign to commit it themselves without consequence...regardless or race/age/gender/etc.

You have no idea what was said "Josh Brown" and neither do I. I do know that Mixon came inside the cafe and walked to her table. Perhaps he said something that causes her to push him. Maybe not. Maybe she just decided to push him. In any case, do you think he could have restrained her or walked to call or find law enforcement offer instead of breaking bones in her face?

Don't think anyone on here thinks what he did is all right but this happened 2 years ago and sounds like he has been a better person since the ordeal. He made a mistake, don't you think everyone should at least get a second chance if it's not to severe like robbery or rape.I think my wife, daughter and mother wouldn't act the way this young lady did because they were brought up better than that so they wouldn't put themselves in that situation.Every program handles things differently like a certain basketball player from Iowa.
