Northern Illinois football: Northern Illinois out to redeem itself in Soldier Field game against Iowa - chicagotribune.com
From article:
The second-year Northern Illinois coach played for Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, in the early 1990s.
"We were the redheaded stepchild in the Iowa papers," Doeren recalled. "Iowa (football) would get like four pages worth of news and Iowa State would get some, and then down in the corner they might talk about the Bulldogs. So we spent a lot of time hearing about Iowa."
"Our guys are excited to play against (Iowa)," Doeren said. "Any time you get a chance to play against a team like them that has the quality of coaches and players and facilities, there's a chip on your shoulder."
"Coming back to Soldier Field after losing to Wisconsin last year," Moore said, "I'm very hungry to play Iowa."
