Nico is leaving

So am I the only one that wants to see Nico "The Boot" Law face Zach "The Kiss of Death" McCabe?

Nico was an internet forum sensation. It would be a great research project to trace back how that started.

I thought Nico came from one of the prep schools out of Maryland (about the same time Coker and another player did). IIRC, all 3 were highly touted. Rightfully so, there was no lack of talent there.

No discipline required by KF. Legal system handling the criminal case, Nico transferring takes care of any internal discipline.
Yup he was told he wasn't welcomed back if he decided he didn't want to transfer (and why wouldn't he) then he'd have been kicked off. It's a bad enough of a deal where if indeed Mitchel or another player was involved there was no chance he could be in that same locker room again. A player having legal action against another on the same team just wouldn't fly and Ferentz I'm sure wanted nothing to do with that. This is as clean of a split as it could be.

This is the story with the eye witness accounts.

Sheagle....he is already an Iowa verbal but grades may be an issue. He was supposed to visit last weekend but is still finishing things up with grades. Supposedly he is visiting soon and enrolling during his visit. I hope this is the case. This also would explain Reynolds going from a grey shirt to a full scholarship this week. Kirk probably let Nico go out the way he wanted instead of a news release.

The "mitchell" from the rumors had an altercation with law's female friend and then got beat up for it...sounds to be like both were in the wrong here...maybe law a bit more...

yes, he was kicked off the team. being allowed to transfer is media spin that ferentz allows to give the kid a chance to learn from error and succeed somewhere else and not bury the kid. see hampton. at the end of the day, i'm sure law has been a transgressor in the past, just like hampton.

I know of a cleaner split. The player pressing criminal charges could have DROPPED THEM... for the sake of the Hawkeye locker room.

Kinda looks like Ferentz thinks he wouldn't have been able to handle the situation any other way. Which also reflects poorly on KF.

He got famous with ONE highlight play in a scrimmage, when he hit Bullock hard and knocked his helmet off.

He is like joe Namath...one big thing got him all the hype in the world.

nico - hype came from 1 hit in practice. In reality he was a liability in many ways on the field but people still only think of that hit and wanted him to be Bob sanders.

joe - hype came from calling a Super Bowl win. In actuality he had a losing record as a qb in the nfl and threw more interceptions than touchdowns.

hype makes people remember things differently than they are.

Well I wasn't there but if it's true that said player was sucker punched from behind and kicked while on the ground.... Yea I'd want the law sicked on Law. Are you saying that you think Mitchell or whomever that happened to never should have reported what happened at all and just let bygones be bygones in the locker room? Man that's a hell of alot easier said then done when your not the one who got beat up... I'm pretty sure Ferentz comes out smelling like a rose in this and has the entire team in his corner. Besides the fact Law is a 2nd stringer and special teamer they really aren't losing that much. Yea he had a role on the Raider package but we are talking about a handful of plays a game tops. There are like 4 freshman DBs coming in this class odds are one of them may be able to do what Law was going to do this year maybe even better.

That's what coaches are supposed to do: create, heck, force unity in the locker room. Good coaches, that is. How many times do you think KF has already arbitrarily forced unity in the locker room? Maybe in the, for example, Beujter situation? Who got punched out, there?? Or the rhabdo situation? And are you really suggesting substituting incoming freshmen with Law would make Iowa's defense better? Really? What if a starting safety (or any corner) goes down? How does KF feel about freshmen compared to upperclassmen?

Ferentz is screwing up HIS favorite and trusted part of the team: the defense. I want to know what's his motivation for doing that.

If Ferentz's staff attempted to placate the player offended at that early hour so the player would drop his law suite and the player refused, I know, as coach, which player I would've asked to transfer... and I believe Ferentz would've asked, as well, with KF's all for team mentality... and it wouldn't have been Law.

2001 just called. Wanting to let you know unity will be forced on the team in 2002, 2003, 2004, etc.

Please try and get a clue. Please.

Haha you're trying wayyyy too hard this time HomerClueless.

Sounds like nico may have been a bad egg. If so, not having him in the locker room will help us this year. Cool name though. So bye
