Nice try Rob....

I get that you are mad as helll and aren't going to take it anymore. I won't blame anyone for being done with the staff, many things have been pretty indefensible this year.

Here's where you lose me though, you didn't watch last Sat and you are watching this Saturday? I don't get that. There's a good chance we'll get smoked on Saturday, and KF/GD/PP ar going to upset a lot of people at likely multiple points in the game..... But i'm gonna watch, cause I am a fan of Iowa Football, even when we suck.

I said I didn't watch the Penn State game and I won't watch Saturday either.

Did you read my first column when I recommended that it be a one or two year rollover contract? That was my opinion then and still would be.

I also have been critical of the buyout after the fact. You can extend a contract 20 years as long as you have the right buyout in case things don't work out.

I get it. You don't like KF and my critiques aren't strong enough for you. However, we write critical, objective pieces on this site. To say we don't is disingenuous and, frankly, wrong.

I'll tell you what. Since you're a writer and have strong opinions here, work something up and we will run it on here. You have to use your real name, though.

I am very interested to see how this plays out....

yeah, still don't get why a fan doesn't watch his favorite team. Even when they aren't good and even when you don't like the coach(coaches). To each their own, just seems odd to me.

I said after the Wisconsin game I'm not going to let KF ruin my Saturday's anymore. I was in a much better mood all weekend because of it too

I didn't watch the 4th qtr. and I'm happier for skipping that, but I'll be back for the Michigan game as well.

I'm a glutton though I guess. I watched all of the BB games with Lick as coach as well. Or at least tuned in until I could take no more on occasion. If not watching at all helps you keep your sanity, then I get it.

Yep this is where I'm at. I won't lie and say I wasn't checking my phone but I didn't watch it last week and won't watch it this week. I could see myself getting drawn in for the Illinois game but maybe not, we'll see

Everybody who accomplished that should get free season tickets.

Dean, when I first started coming here you were one of the most toxic posters period. You were just plain out rude. I just don't see very many being as nasty as you were (albeit you were being nasty about those who disagreed with you be it pro KF or negative KF. I enjoy football. I usually enjoy Iowa football, heck I became a fan before HF. What's happening is disappointing, but it's not my life and I suspect a lot of other dissenters. What get's old is the insinuation that to be not happy with KF and the direction of Iowa football is not having a life.

Think about this. I started as a Hawkeye Fan in the mid 70s as a little kid. No one else in my home followed the Hawks. I did it on my own. Iowa football was awful between when I started and HF arrived. I won tickets in a football context on WHO and was elated. Yes I Iowa lost and it was a great experience. For kids that started watching the Hawks in 2010 or later actually went through a longer period of time of irrelevance that what I did. 2015 was great, though the ending left a taste. This team has a good shot at finishing with a losing record and has a 4-5 record against the P5 since last year. The 3 wins are over Rutgers, Purdue, Iowa State and OK a decent win against Minny.

There is no Calvary coming next year. It looks long term. Get off your new found high horse. That contract was smelly and there is nothing wrong with complaining about it.

I was one of the first to complain about the new contract on this site in a thread. I will dig it up and re post it.

I have posted many time about dissatisfaction with different people at the university and Iowa programs. I have said Sally Mason, Barta and KF all needed to go. I criticized the heck out of the Iowa AD marketing department, and then when they made positive changes I applauded them. I have been critical of Greg Davis since he started here, and have never felt he fit at Iowa. I have criticized Fran McCaffery many times and been blasted by people on here for it (PCHawk can attest to this).

Everyone is different on what they see or what they perceive. If you come on here and say KF blew this call, or didn't do this or that, I might agree or disagree with you and post it. When you come on here and say that KF is deliberately getting players injured with play calling, then I call that out as stupidity. You think it is rational to say such a thing and I think it is ok for me to blast you for that. You in turn blast back and I guess carry a grudge about the whole incident.

I was never on a high horse. I was always leading a charge saying the contract was smelly, from the instant it was signed......

The buyout is insane. Why would you let someone who wants to end his career at Iowa hold you over the coals like this? KF isn't going anywhere, don't let him hold the university hostage like that. I am as big of supporter of KF as anyone, but this is a results driven job. If KF ever has 3 seasons in a row of non results, you gotta move on, and this buyout assures that Barta's successor can never make that decision.

This will come back to haunt the Iowa football program at some point.

Did somebody say Todd?

This is what it going to get extremely frustrating with the toxic crowd. They live in a lala land where 30 million buyouts don't mean anything, they actually think that Iowa is just gonna buy that out. Instead of looking for improvements or hoping for the best, they set the line at National championships or NOTHING!!! It is like complete and total crazy takes over in some when the losses start mounting.

I'm as disappointed as everyone else, I just fight off the crazy better it seems. If you expect NC level, just switch who you root for now. Nebraska will never win another NC in the current FBS landscape, and they have a tradition and recruiting advantage that we will never have. If you need to win a NC in order to enjoy college football prepare to be disappointed forever, and I suggest you just give up college football for your general health and well being actually.

No one is "expecting" National Championships, although some of us have the audacity to expect that we have that as a goal. We have that expectation primarily because of the investment the university made has in the football program. We have national championship facilities and pay our coaches like the "big boy" programs who compete for National Championships. I am glad you are happy and enjoy watching really shitty, boring football while a few lucky guys roaming the sidelines are getting rich and putting in a "half ass" effort doing it.

I'm just trying to help you with you sanity is all. You can any kind of "audacity" that you'd like, that isn't going to change the fact that Iowa isn't gonna win a NC. You could bring Nick Saban here tomorrow and Iowa ain't gonna win a NC. He couldn't do it at MSU, he wouldn't be able to do it at Iowa, but he could at LSU and Bama. It is what it is, don't be mad at me for pointing out the obvious.

I watched every second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I will admit to flipping to the OSU/Nebraska game during commercials. 62-3 was just too good to pass up. (I live in Western Iowa)
Where are my seats going to be?

Thats fair enough. ultimately, we all just want decent football and wins, and we aren't getting either. sometimes I forget almost all who post here are hardcore Hawk fans, just see certain things differently (and probably not really s differently as it comes across). I find myself wanting to meet up with most on here and talk Hawks, I think it would be much less argumentative at times, there's posters on here I disagree with a lot but respect. Plus, there's just a couple folks I'd be curious to see and see if they'd be different in person.

I really try to post or reply to someone the same way I would if they were standing in front of me, the ones who clearly wouldn't (icky) are the ones I have the biggest issue.

Seems the University is wasting millions, then. Why are we spending hundreds of million dollars on facilities and coaches when the program is destined to suck?
We could get any clown coach in here and pay him $1,000,000 a year to go 6-6. Hell, that clown could most likely even beat ISU most of the time. We certainly do not have a coach that can do that now.

What? Just being at the level that Iowa has been at under Hayden and KF (the best finish was ranked #8 in the polls) has lead to hundreds of millions to the Iowa City community. It has lead to the football program basically single handedly funding 20 some other olympic sports and supplying countless student athletes with an opportunity to get a college education.

If you think that winning a NC is the only goal of college athletics, then I don't know what to tell you. I'm not stupid enough to say this is all about the students, but lots, and lots of good is done in the community and at the university with a competitive football program.

MSU was in the playoff, Iowa was 30 seconds away. Who's to say Saban couldn't get it done either place? Obviously when he was at MSU the first time he didn't have the recruiting pull he has today. Not saying either place could rival what Bama is now but it only takes 1 great year (on the field) to get a NC.

Iowa might have been 30 seconds away, and MSU actually made it, yet each of them were light years away from winning 2 games vs. other playoffs teams to win the NC.

I get what you are saying, that it "could" happen, that is why I put the odds at 1%, it just is such a long shot really.

They definitely weren't at a legit NC level - that's the point. If they got that far with those teams, what could they do after a few years of Saban recruits? He couldn't recruit to the cold like he recruits to Bama, but he could probably get better players than KF and MD have.
