Where did you this find this? How serious are they looking into changing the weight classes?

I like these changes. Cut down the number of the lower weight classes

left out 106

i personally would of struggled as a freshman i weighed 96lbs as a freshman and had a tough time qualifying for state when kids weighed 105 at the time. i think if they do these weight changes the 2lb allowance should go away. there are A LOT of 103lbers that don't weigh enough. didn't they used to have something into effect that you had to weigh a certain amount to wrestle 103?

the smaller weight classes are being punished and that is where a lot of 4-timers get their start

@pin - I only weighed ~90lbs as a freshman. The new weight classes would've ensured I didn't get a shot at wrestling varsity until at least my junior year, and possibly my senior year. I know there's not a lot of guys in that size bracket these days, but it seems a shame to take away opportunities for guys who can't realistically play basketball or football but could be great at wrestling.

exactly i cut from 110-112 my senior year for 103 so i would of been a small 12lber my senior year

granted i probably should of lifted weights to get bigger for college but as a wrestler i always cut the weight that i could to have best advantage so i didn't think much of it

While Im not a huge fan of changing/fixing something if it is not broke, which is what I think is happening with the weight classes here.

I have to give it to them for finally changing the OOB rule. Last year I got very frustrated watching wrestlers back up to the edge and as soon as a foot hit the line a ref would blow the whistle. Hopefully this rule change will teach kids to keep wrestling on the edge.

This is from the article on themat.com

Another significant change was made in Rule 2-1-3, which now makes the boundary line inbounds and, thus, expands the wrestling area. Previously, a wrestler was out of bounds if he or she was touching any part of the 2-inch-wide line which marks the wrestling area.

I agree. About time they changed it.

Glad to see the 195.... I always thought there was a big gap between 185 and 215.....182 to 195 to 220 makes more sense.

Then again, when I went to HS, the upper three weights were 167, 185, then HWT. How times have changed.

I agre about the upper weights as well and these new ones would make more sense to me. Of course I wrestled 189 all through high school so this is my area. Kind of like Pin and AF talking about 103. My high school team had trouble filling 103 for a couple years I was in high school. We grew them big in NE Iowa! :)

There's always the middle school rules...no weight classes and get paired up with someone within ~20lbs. I always wrestled someone heavier than me in middle school :)

This seems to make the most sense. Just add to the college weights.

105
112
119
125 ---
133 ---
141 ---
149 ---
157 ---
165 ---
174 ---
184 ---
197 ---
215
285 ---

+1. It's simple and it makes sense.

OBTW, when I wrestled there wasn't an upper weight limit for Heavyweight. Anyone know why that changed? I enjoyed watching the big boys wrestle.
