how long has he had an offer from iowa? i have no idea, and perhaps it's in this thread and i've missed it.
According to a Rival's article he received his Iowa offer on Sunday Oct 13.

How many underlooked guys does Ferentz have to turn into All-BigTen caliber players and even NFL draft picks before people just decide that the man knows what he's doing?
He could be a good linebacker but I still don't get going after him and backing of Elija Lee. We had a great chance at flipping him and he would be an beast early for Iowa. We also had a good chance of flipping Gates from Ole Miss. Mistake imo by the staff.
Please disclose your talent evaluation credentials so that if we should believe you, or if we should believe KF and his talent evaluation skills.
Might there be a reason for backing off Lee and Gates, or is it your view the staff did it arbitrarily, without thought?

I don't think this was a fallback kid. I truly believe Kirk likes what he sees in him.
We started contacting Lee again lately and have been talking to Gates. It'd be nice if this project works out down the line but I'd rather have a guy that could contribute early. Bash all you want
Perhaps, just perhaps, the coaching staff knows about a couple of current scholarships that might be opening up due to transfers, or other attrition...? Maybe there are more scholarships available than you think.
Also, this is one of those kids that come along in a small community once in a generation. I think he is a 4-year letterman in football, basketball, track, baseball. just one of those great all-around athletes that come around once in a generation and they tend to find a niche on the team that will work out very well.
Not bashing. You just seem to act like we were really in on either of those guys. It may be they accepted Hesse's commitment because they didn't believe they'd be able to get either of those guys to switch and that their recruiting efforts could be best used elsewhere.
We only have about 4 open spots, possibly 3 now. So Wiegers gets one, we need ATLEAST 1 OT preferably two, we most definitely need a DE, and what about Jennings? The numbers don't add up for how many guys we are going after right now. We need Wiegers, Wallace, Hendrick, and Jennings. There isn't room for another LB.
