New Commit - Parker Hesse

We only have about 4 open spots, possibly 3 now. So Wiegers gets one, we need ATLEAST 1 OT preferably two, we most definitely need a DE, and what about Jennings? The numbers don't add up for how many guys we are going after right now. We need Wiegers, Wallace, Hendrick, and Jennings. There isn't room for another LB.

How many underlooked guys does Ferentz have to turn into All-BigTen caliber players and even NFL draft picks before people just decide that the man knows what he's doing?

How many guys like this became career 2nd stringers? Not saying this kid sucks at all I just like Lee and Gates better. I totally trust Kirk though, I just don't like how he is a project. The other two could come in earlier and have a chance to play.

He could be a good linebacker but I still don't get going after him and backing of Elija Lee. We had a great chance at flipping him and he would be an beast early for Iowa. We also had a good chance of flipping Gates from Ole Miss. Mistake imo by the staff.

Might there be a reason for backing off Lee and Gates, or is it your view the staff did it arbitrarily, without thought?

Please disclose your talent evaluation credentials so that if we should believe you, or if we should believe KF and his talent evaluation skills.

He posts on hawkeyenation.com. What else is required? That's usually what I submit as my bona fides when someone challenges the credibility of my opinion.

We started contacting Lee again lately and have been talking to Gates. It'd be nice if this project works out down the line but I'd rather have a guy that could contribute early. Bash all you want

Perhaps, just perhaps, the coaching staff knows about a couple of current scholarships that might be opening up due to transfers, or other attrition...? Maybe there are more scholarships available than you think.

Also, this is one of those kids that come along in a small community once in a generation. I think he is a 4-year letterman in football, basketball, track, baseball. just one of those great all-around athletes that come around once in a generation and they tend to find a niche on the team that will work out very well.

Not bashing. You just seem to act like we were really in on either of those guys. It may be they accepted Hesse's commitment because they didn't believe they'd be able to get either of those guys to switch and that their recruiting efforts could be best used elsewhere.

I agree I agree. I like how he could possibly play up to 4 different positions and if other schollies open up I'm cool with it.

We were going after Lee as hard as we could and were getting really close. Some insiders thought he would end up a Hawk but who knows. He said that Iowa just stopped contacting him.

AT LEAST a couple of more spots will become open before it is all said and done. Transfers, letting your call roll into a parked police cruiser, etc.

...How does anyone know we have 4 spots?

Transfers, attrition, early draft entry, etc..

While I agree Wiegers, Wallace, Hendrick, and Jennings are 4 really big targets.. it looks like to me they all still have a spot at the table.

So then.. I remember 20-ish being said as well.

No one here actually knows though, is what I'm getting at.

My bro coaches at Union High...who played Waukon this season. Trust me this guy is a beast and can play.
