New Commit - Parker Hesse

Then why was Greg Castillo, who was from New Jersey, used as an example.

And why didnt you use Derek Pagel, who was from Nashua, Iowa or Sean Considine, who was brom Byron, Illinois I believe in your example?

Tyler Sash from Oskaloosa, another cornfielder...

I was replying to JCinthePowerI's post and DP5555's retort to JC's post. Maybe with strength training and other he may be as good as the ones you listed.. But, no, Hesse's not a 3 star high schooler.. no way.

I could care less how many stars the guy has. All I care about is what he could turn out to be. Iowa's had a ton of success with kids like him. The fact he's now 6'3 205 means absolutely nothing.

Now JCinthePowerI only stated that he's no 3 star recruit... but it sure seemed to me like he was insinuating the kid isn't going to be worth anything based upon that. Maybe I'm guilty of reading to far into it, but the comment seemed snarky so it justified an equally snarky response.

Hitchens and Kirksey took til senior year to be beasts. Like I said...projects. When a guy like Lee can play earlier, I'd rather take him.

Again, HOW DO YOU KNOW LEE WAS AN OPTION!?!?!? You keep posting like Ferentz handpicked Hesse over Lee when you do not know that to be the case. You don't know what has happened. Stop reading so far into it. Even if the coaching staff did choose Hesse over the two guys you keep mentioning there could be very solid reasons for it that you do not know about. You previously said you trust Ferentz's evaluating skills, but everything you've said since then contradicts yourself. Plus you don't know that Lee could have came in and contributed early. That's a pretty big reach to just assume that he could.

The bottom line is the kid is going to be a Hawkeye. Why not just welcome him to the Hawkeye family? Hopefully he can be another under the radar kid who works his way into playing a pivotal role for the Hawks. There's no reason to second guess things unless you actually have inside information on what has been going on.

You are right kirksey was terrible until this year. Surely no elijah lee (who is committed elsewhere)

Kirksey has been great for a couple years now.

Also keep in mind that all three of our starting linebackers did not redshirt. Can you imagine if we didn't get massacred by injuries at that spot in 2010 and two or all of those guys would have been able to redshirt?

Gotta fit the narrative.
If it doesnt fit narrative backpedal.

Kirksey didn't redshirt and started three years. I'd hardly call him a project.

How many underlooked guys does Ferentz have to turn into All-BigTen caliber players and even NFL draft picks before people just decide that the man knows what he's doing?

Some people apparently think Tanner Miller erases all Ferentz's good credit in that department. I've seen this kid play, and he can absolutely be a good get down the road. Reminded me a little of Morris when he was at Solon.

Kirksey didn't get good until this year? What the **** have you been watching for the last three years?
