Parker Hesse - Yahoo! Sports

2* kid out of Waukon projected at LB. Iowa was the only one to offer although ISU was sniffing around and their fans were up in arms asking why he hadn't been offered. Sounds like a Greenway kind of guy. Comes from a small school and was overlooked by most. Most guess he would probably be a mid to high 3* kid if he wasn't at such a small school.

I also didn't realize this but Waukon also had a fairly good 3* DE on the team that Iowa never offered but ISU and Oregon State did. He committed to OSU last July.

I love these kind of gets. Iowa has had a lot of success with them. Hope he comes in with the same mentality so many others in his position have had before him.

He could be a good linebacker but I still don't get going after him and backing of Elija Lee. We had a great chance at flipping him and he would be an beast early for Iowa. We also had a good chance of flipping Gates from Ole Miss. Mistake imo by the staff.

Hopefully we can turn him into something, we usually do. However, he looks like a depth guy rather than a future starter.

Big recruiting weekend - coldest kickoff in history. Only commit is a kid from Waukee - sounds about right.

Curse you Exxon Mobile and your Old Lady Mother Nature!

Waukee or Waukon? Either way this is a pretty good get. He must of saw that the class will be filling up quick, so he better get in while he can.

I don't see the rush to get this guy...it isn't like he is going to commit and stay committed to some FCS schools. Try to land the better talent and fall back on a guy like this.

I would agree, IF the staff likes someone a bunch more. I think Iowa really liked him at camps this summer. Then when they saw his film, and followed his SR year, maybe they have upgraded him even more, you never know.

I think one thing that most can't debate with KF is his eye for talent, and who and how he can develop kids. If he think the kid can play, he doesn't give a rip if the kid is a 2* and others can't see it. He KNOWS what he sees, and isn't scared to go after the kid, other opinions be damned. It helps that more times that not, KF is correct, and the others are wrong.

This kid is not a mid to high 3-star.... no way, no how.

Ahhh and how do you know how this kid is going to turn out all mighty one? Please share your infinite knowledge with all of us peons. Obviously you know more than Kirk and Co. when it comes to spotting talent.

I don't have a problem with it but I don't understand why they'd do this now. It may have been that he'd commit to which ever program offered him first between ISU and Iowa.

This is a situation where the position determines what I think of offering him. I trust this staff to identify linemen and linebackers/tightends.

Who is to say that we still can't land those guys? We're looking pretty thin at LB next season, so multiple LB's commits is a possibility.

I understand where you're coming from, but the staff must've really like this kid, and wanted to lock him down. I'm going to trust their judgement here.

How many underlooked guys does Ferentz have to turn into All-BigTen caliber players and even NFL draft picks before people just decide that the man knows what he's doing?
