Need blitz pressure to rattle Armstrong

Maybe our d line minus Ott just sucks. Or maybe Phil is a hideously weak link. It's like he internalized Norm's deficiencies and forgot his finer attributes Whatever the ailment, our brutally exposed defense is going to be our undoing. CJ better come ready to score, and often.

I'd throw on Mabin all day were I playing agin Iowa. Especially if I had seven seconds to throw. Rape House Tommy might be a moron, but he's got the talent to get that done.

Make me me eat crow, Phil.

Phil is not dumb. He must know, at this point, that what he has schemed the last 2 or 3 weeks is not working. He either does not have any alternatives to show us, or, he believes we still have the potential to improve and get pressure, or he thinks we can continue to be patient and wait for the enemy to make mistakes, i.e., follow the bend, don't break plan. I just don't know and I am really worried.

If he is dumb, KF better make him undumb soon....

The bend don't break can become the bend then break PDQ. It's almost liek 3rd or 4th & long is the optimal position for opposing offenses. And that ain't a recent development.

If King weren't eliminating half of the secondary we'd really be torched.

Losing Ott was a massive blow.

You all are coming at this like its Iowa circa the last 10 years on offense. This isn't old KF offense here where we need our defense to make plays to beat teams. I know it's been forever since we've had a playmaker at Q and actual running backs, but we've got them now. And frankly, with as bad as Nebby's defense is, I think we can dang near score at will against them. Limit the big plays, let Tommy Turnover make mistakes, and we'll win going away. There's a reason we haven't trailed in the 2nd half all B1G season....

False narrative. Their run D is pretty good, and pass D has been improving.

No room for offensive mistakes Friday. IA O needs to control tempo and keep scoring. The more time we control the ball, the less Tommie has.

On D, Im thinking we'll be subbing heavily the last three quarters. All positions. Line and l backers especially. Get ready Bo B.!!

Then, do it all over again the next two or three games. Hoping four!

Be prepared everyone, the competition is getting stiffer in a hurry. Time to open the entire offensive playbook. We may need 45 points in Lincoln.

Go Hawkeyes!! Proud no matter what!!

... and when we are not blitzing I would like to introduce Mr. Armstrong to Mr. Jewell ... Josie needs to be spying on him all night.

Bingo,We have a winner.Im more worried about him running wild more than him making plays with his arm.I sure wish coaches could come up with something to disrupt their offense. He's not a good passer if he's pressured.Hopefully the guys will come out swinging and deliver a knock out punch.12-0 sounds real good. Go Hawks

Idk. Do you blitz and potentially give up big plays or make armdong beat you consistently. I would prob initially try to make him beat us w out blitzing s ton. I don't know if he has the accuracy. We could get some stops or some pics. Plus, you have our offense to try to keep ahead of them as well. I do kind of like the idea of maybe having Jewell spy on him a bit. After seeing Jewell plant that Marylan qb five feet in front of me like that idea. One or two of those and house party armdong will think twice about scrambling.

I agree where is our pressure coming from? Its non existent, were last in the league for QB sacks.Sure wish the coaches could put a good blitz package in.As far as Armstrong we better have one of our LB's spying him or he will take off.Proud of the team lets get healthier and improve in all phases.11-0 is pretty darn good but 12-0 sounds better.Go Hawks

We really, really, could've used Ott lately. He would have been a huge asset this coming Friday, too.

I agree. I think we've seen the soft coverage the last two weeks for this very reason. Although I understand everyones frustration, I think we need to understand the context. We won those games. We jump out to early leads and continue to score throughout the game so it's important to sit back, tackle well, and limit big plays. Let them dink and dump all game if they want, and tighten it up in the red zone. "Bend but don't break"... I feel like we can do the same against Nebraska.

Iowa pass rush has been totally non existent that last two weeks. The raider package has been it for Iowa. The only penetration I've seen has been out of that.
